Information

This Fewest Moves competition is part of the WCA African Championship for 2026, but is being hosted 3 weeks before the main Championship in several separate countries and venues across the continent. Please see the Locations tab for more information.

Please note that only the 3x3x3 Fewest Moves will be held - this is not an ideal competition for newcomers or those who only know speedsolving. Fewest Moves is comprised of 3 separate 1-hour attempts to solve the cube in the lowest possible number of moves. By WCA regulations, the puzzle must be solved in 80 moves or fewer (excluding rotations) in order to be a valid attempt, otherwise the result will be DNF. If you cannot solve the puzzle in 80 moves or less, please consider not registering for this event. Please see this section of the WCA Regulations for more information on Fewest Moves solving.

There will be a short break inbetween attempts for grading, as well as snack/tea breaks for competitors.

For the website for the main WCA African Championship taking place in Cape Town, South Africa, please visit the official WCA website and the official CubingZA website.

GUESTS

Please note that guests and spectators are not encouraged at this competition, unless special arrangements have been made prior to the event with the competition organisers (for example, for younger competitors that require a parent or guardian present). The venues are small and there must be absolute silence for the duration of each attempt.

VENUES

Please see the Locations tab for more info! If you are a Junior or Full Delegate and would like to host a location in Africa for this competition, please reach out to the organizers! Venues can be added up until 15 August 2026 (three weeks before the competition).

  2. The competitor must register for the competition using their WCA account.
  3. The competitor must leave a comment on their entry stating which Country and City they will be attending this competition. Please only type one of the options from the list and write it exactly as we have displayed it.
  4. The competitor must pay the entry fee by purchasing a ticket from your local organiser. More information is available in the Payments tab.

If you haven't both registered for the competition (Step 2) and paid for a ticket (Step 4), you will not be able to compete.

After registering for the competition on the WCA website, your registration will be pending. Once your payment has been confirmed by your local organiser, your registration will be approved. (Allow up to 48 hours for the organisers to confirm the payment.)
