Information

First time competitors

WCA Regulations

Participants are expected to know WCA regulations before attending an official competition. We will have a competitor tutorial for new participants before the first event on day 2 begins, where we will show how to compete in an official WCA competition. If you want to get a better idea of how the competition works already, please check these videos which will show you this. Reading through this guide. is also a good idea since it shows most things a competitor needs to know.

Pre-competition email

You will receive pre-competition email where we will address various important information for participants to know. This email will also include any changes made since the competition was announced. If there is any other urgent information which we need to communicate to competitors, then it will be done through e-mail so therefore it is important that you check your e-mail regularly.

Verification during competition day

Please bring a form of identification that states both your name and nationality e.g. IC, birth certificate, passport, driver’s license, etc, for verification purposes during on-site registration.

What to bring for the competition

You MUST bring your own puzzles for each event you are registered in. Ensure that your puzzles comply with the WCA Regulations. We also recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day. Many competitors like to have a “warm-up cube” to practice with while waiting for their official solve. You may also want to bring a jacket or hoodie in case the venue gets cold, as well as a hand warmer to keep your hands comfortable for solving.

Tutorial for new competitors

We will have a demonstration showing how the competing process works on Sunday afternoon before 3x3 First round begins, but we highly recommend watching these videos to get a good understanding of how solving in competition works. Reading through this guide is also a good idea since it shows most things a competitor needs to know.

What time should arrive the competition

You should be punctual for registration according the the competition schedule. If you only have events for Day 2, you can register on Day 2 instead. Please note that the schedule may be subjected to changes during the competition itself.

You need to be present at the venue at least 60 minutes before your event starts As the schedule may differ slightly from what was previously announced. If you’re not on time and miss the last call for that event, you will not be able to compete for that event. Missing any given event does not bar you from competing in subsequent events (but does bar you from competing in subsequent rounds of events you missed).
