Information

UPDATE (March 9): The competition has reached the 60-competitor limit, and a number of people now have registrations on the waiting list. Registration has now been closed. In the event of any cancellation, we will accept people from the waiting list in the order in which they have paid the registration fee.

STMHS is holding its first WCA competition in May! This competition is planned to help lower the costs of graduation caps and gowns for seniors in STMHS and bring some love to Connecticut cubing. (And then some!) The events consist of some NxNxN puzzles (2x2 up to 5x5, including 3x3 Blindfolded) as well as more unorthodox puzzles (Skewb, Square-1, Pyraminx). 2x2 and 3x3 will have two rounds while the rest of the events will only have one round.

Guests are welcome, though it will be appreciated to inform us on how many each competitor will plan on having with them on their registration forms. To the right of the venue is New London High School which has a free parking lot, though its capacity becoming full throughout the day is unknown.

The competition will be held in the lecture hall of the Science and Technology Magnet High School of Southeastern Connecticut, which has two general entry points: one off Jefferson Avenue and the other off Chester Street. STMHS is the leftmost building with arrays of glass windows. Interstate 95 passes nearby the campus.

Special thanks to TheCubicle for sponsoring this competition! A vending stand will also be available at the venue.

We will not be calling names, only groups. These groups will be emailed to competitors . All competitors will be required to help judge. The competitor tutorial at the beginning of the day will go over this as well. If you have any questions about the process, find any staff member and they will be happy to assist you. More experienced competitors may have scrambling duties in addition to or instead of judging. These assignments are posted with the groups as well. If you don't show up to help, we reserve the right to disqualify you from that event. If you show up to judge, and all of the judging stations are full, find an organizer or delegate and we will have you run or scramble depending on what needs help. If you wish to help for the full day, consider applying for staff in the staff tab.

Groups can be found here.

Live results will be posted to cubecomps, with an exact link posted closer to the competition. Here you can see round rankings to know if you have advanced to a later round. You can also see a personal page with all of your results for the competition.

If you believe one of your results has been entered incorrectly, please come and find a staff member as soon as possible to make sure the correct people advance to subsequent rounds.
If you do not wish to compete in an event that you signed up for, you do not need to notify us. Just don't show up for the round.
If you wish to compete in an event that you did not sign up for, please come see us right before the round so we can create a scorecard for you so that you can compete.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
