Pachamama is the central deity of the Andean worldview. She represents much more than earth in a purely physical sense; she is Mother Earth, a living being that shelters, nourishes, and protects humans. Her origin dates back to pre-Inca civilizations, establishing herself as the spiritual core of the peoples of the Andes. In regions like Jujuy, the bond with this deity remains intact and manifests with particular strength throughout the month of August, a transitional period in the agricultural cycle when the earth rests and prepares for the new sowing season.

The central ritual is the "corpachada", a ceremony of deep gratitude and reciprocity. Families and communities gather to open a small pit in the ground -considered the mouth of Pachamama-, which is adorned with colored threads and stones. Through this space, she is offered the best fruits of the year: traditional foods, ancestral beverages like chicha, coca leaves, basil, and aromatic incense. This is not a distant act of worship, but an intimate dialogue. It is a way of returning to the earth a part of what she provided us, ensuring prosperity for the upcoming cycle.

Merging this ancient tradition with speedcubing, a modern discipline based on mental agility and the mathematical resolution of puzzles, might seem unusual at first glance. However, both spheres share a common essence: patience, respect for processes, and the search for harmony. Speedcubing demands absolute concentration and a deep understanding of structure and order, qualities that directly dialogue with the patience and respect that Andean peoples dedicate to natural cycles.

"Pacha Cubing" is born under this synergy. The tournament does not seek to be a simple competition of times and algorithms; it aspires to be a space for community gathering where contemporary youth honors their cultural heritage, proving that ancestral identity and modern intellectual development not only coexist but reinforce each other.

Some events have a cumulative limit (Events), meaning competitors have a maximum time limit across all their attempts combined.
Judges must stop the competitor as soon as they reach this limit and should not allow them to start if very little time remains (rule 2k6).
To easily calculate the remaining limit, judges can use the "Time Limit" app.

Example 1 for a 5-minute cumulative limit:

1st attempt: 1:30.00
2nd attempt: 1:00.00
3rd attempt: 2:00.00
4th attempt: ?
5th attempt: ?
There are 30.00 seconds remaining for the 4th and 5th attempts combined (5:00.00 - 1:30.00 - 1:00.00 - 2:00.00 = 30.00).
Since the competitor averages around a minute and a half, it’s clear they won’t have enough time to complete the 4th attempt in 30.00 seconds.
Therefore, they are likely to receive a DNF. In this case, the judge should not allow them to start, and their round would end at this point.

Example 2 for a 5-minute cumulative limit:

1st attempt: 1:30.00
2nd attempt: 1:00.00
3rd attempt: 2:49.27 (INVALID)
The competitor had 2:30.00 minutes for the third attempt (5:00.00 - 1:30.00 - 1:00.00). Their third attempt exceeds the limit. The judge is responsible for stopping the competitor as soon as they exceed the maximum time (2:30.00 in this case), so the attempt is considered finished at that moment. Since the competitor had not solved the puzzle after 2:30.00 minutes (as it took 2:49.27), their attempt is recorded as DNF.
Note that the judge should not have allowed the competitor to complete their solve and must interrupt them as soon as the limit is reached.

All subsequent attempts not performed due to reaching the time limit will be recorded as "DNS" (Did Not Start).

📌 "Dual Rounds" System: How does it work?
The "Dual Runs" format -or split attempts- is an official system designed to offer participants greater opportunities. It consists of dividing a single round into two separate competing sessions, which are scheduled at different times or days during the tournament.

To accurately understand how this dynamic works, here are the key points:

⏱️ Double chance to qualify: Every registered competitor has the guaranteed right to participate in both attempts. There is no elimination filter or cut between the first and second session; meaning all participants automatically advance to the second attempt. Once the entire round is completed, the system will automatically select your best result -whether a single time or an average- across both participations to build the overall ranking that determines who advances to the finals.

🚀 Partial attendance for exceptional cases: The ideal and highly recommended scenario is that you attend both attempts to maximize your chances of getting a solid result. However, in the hypothetical event that you have an unavoidable schedule conflict and cannot attend one of the days, the system accounts for this. You can miss the first day and only compete in the second attempt, or participate in the first and be absent for the second. In either of these exceptional situations, the times you successfully recorded will remain fully valid to qualify for the final round.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced (see Regulation A1a2).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.

Advancement Condition

The number of competitors shown as advancing to the next round is the planned maximum. The actual number may be lower if there are fewer competitors than expected, or if there are ties at the boundary.
