This competition is in a series with Open de Gatineau A 2023. You will only be able to compete in one of these two competitions. Attempting to register for both competitions will result in only one of your registrations being accepted.

Due to the sanitary situation, the conditions for accessing the competition venue can vary due to the government's announcements. The organization team will inform everybody of the restrictions as they change.Take clear note especially of the Health and Safety Tab.
There will be no refunds in case of cancellation (due to transaction fees) . However, if you register and you are not able to come, please let us know so we can give the spot to someone else. You will still be refunded if you are still on the waiting list when the the registration period closes.

This competition is part of the Open de Gatineau 2023 Competition Series. Other competitions in this Series are: Note: You can submit a registration for all competitions in a Series, but only one of those registrations can be confirmed and accepted. You will only be allowed to compete in one of the Series competitions!
There is a competitor limit of 60 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $15 (Canadian Dollar).
Registration fees won't be refunded under any circumstance.

We encourage everyone to register for the events they want to compete in via your online registration, however you may add events to your registration up until the event has started.

Nous serons heureux d’accueillir des compétiteurs de tous les âges et de tous les niveaux!
Si ce sera votre première compétition, voici ce que vous devez savoir :
- Vous devez vous inscrire ou vous connecter sur le site de WCA.
- Vous devez vous inscrire à la compétition (sur la page de la compétition, onglet "Informations générales") et payer les frais d'inscription.
- Il est indispensable d'être familier avec le règlement officiel de la WCA (une traduction française non officielle et périmée est ici).
- Vous devez apporter une pièce d'identité le jour de la compétition ou nous la numériser et l'envoyer par courriel avant la compétition.
- Nous vous invitons fortement à assister au "Tutoriel des nouveaux compétiteurs", sur place, le jour de la compétiton. Pour en connaître l'heure, consultez l'onglet "Planning" de la page de la compétition.

Q : Dois-je utiliser mes propres cubes en compétition?
R : Absolument! Vous avez non seulement la responsabilité d’amener votre propre matériel, mais aussi de le tenir à l’oeil sur les lieux de la compétition.
Q : À quoi ressemble une compétition?
R : Une compétition permet aux participants de discuter assis autour d’une table et de se pratiquer à résoudre des cubes entre leurs épreuves. La véritable compétition se déroulera dans une partie de la salle où seront disposés les chronomètres, les tapis de compétition ainsi que les dispositifs d’affichage des temps. Pour chacune des épreuves, les compétiteurs inscrits sont placés dans des groupes afin de savoir exactement à quel moment ils devront compléter chacune de leurs épreuves. L’horaire et les groupes seront publiés et seront imprimés sur votre insigne d’identité distribué sur les lieux de la compétition. Toutefois, vous devrez être attentif aux annonces qui seront faites au cours de la journée afin de savoir à quel moment vous serez appelé à compétitionner.
Q : Comment puis-je consulter les résultats de la compétition?
R : Les résultats seront affichés sur le site WCA Live. Un lien web sera ajouté sur cette page, dans l'onglet "Résultats en direct", quelques jours avant la compétition et sera inclus dans le courriel envoyé aux participants.
Q : Y a-t-il des catégories d’âge?
R : Pas du tout! Tous les compétiteurs participent en même temps aux différentes épreuves, peu importe leur âge.
Q : Vais-je m’amuser à cette compétition ?
R : Bien sûr que oui! Une compétition de speedcubing est une activité unique permettant de vivre des émotions fortes, mais aussi d’échanger avec des gens qui partagent la même passion ; nous espérons que vous apprécierez cette expérience!

We look forward to welcoming competitors of all ages and experience.
If it's gonna be your first competition, here's what you need to know:
- You must register or login on the WCA website.
- You must register to the competition (tab "General Info" on the competition page) and pay the registration fee.
- It is essential to be familiar with the official WCA regulations
- You must bring an identification paper (ID, passport, driving license) the day of the competition or scan and send it by email before the competition.
- We strongly encourage you to attend the " Tutorial for New Competitors ", on the spot, the day of competition. To find out the exact timing, check the "Schedule" tab on the competition page.
Of course, those regulations contain a lot of legalese, so we have a video made specifically for new cubers, just to show the basics of competing. This video will explain most of what any cuber competing for the first time will need to know.

FAQs
Q: Do I use my own cubes to compete?
A: YES! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete and to be similarly responsible for its whereabouts at the competition venue.
Q: What is the competition like?
A: Competitions like this one have a bunch of tables where cubers like us get to sit, discuss and practice our favorite thing: cubes! The actual competing with timers, mats and displays is on one side of the room. The competing is split up into groups, so as to better organize who competes when. Specific cube events and their aimed for start times will be posted and on your name tag, but you will also need to listen for when your event and your group is called.
Q: How do I find results?
A: Data recorders will compile and present all results at WCA Live. A web link will be added on this page, in the "Live Results" tab, in the days leading up to the competition, and also include it in the pre-competition email.
Q: Are there age divisions?
A: Nope! All competitors compete in the same group.
Q: Can I have fun at this event?
A: ABSOLUTELY YES! Cubing is amazing, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the competition!

Due to ongoing circumstances, the organizing team is planning for the following restrictions during the competition:
- If you have symptoms related to COVID-19 such as cough, fever, shortness of breath, etc you should not attend this competition.
- If you have had a positive COVID-19 test or prolonged exposure to someone with the virus within 14 days prior to the competition, you should not attend this competition.
- Wearing a mask will be encouraged.
- When not competing, competitors and spectators should attempt to distance whenever possible by keeping 1 meter away from others. We also encourage you to not share puzzles with other competitors.

Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Cutoff
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
