One weekend, two competitions! We are running this two-day competition series as part of WCA Newcomer Month. 30% of spots will be reserved for newcomers (see WCA Newcomer Month 2024 near the bottom of this page for more information).

You can choose between Nouveaux Venus à Montréal A (Saturday) or Nouveaux Venus à Montréal B (Sunday). These competitions are identical except for the day they take place.

You will only be able to compete in one of these two competitions. Attempting to register for more than one of these competitions will result in only one of your registrations being accepted.

This is a great opportunity for newcomers to compete in some, or all of the 3x3x3 cube, 2x2x2 cube, pyraminx, skewb and 3x3x3 cube one-handed events! Plus, as part of WCA Newcomer Month we will have special prizes and initiatives for first-time competitors.

Competitor List

Registrants must pay the registration fee in order to be added to the competitor list. Unpaid registrations will not be accepted. Organizers manually accept registrations one at a time in the order the registration fees are paid, so your name may not appear on the competitor list immediately.

Once the competitor list reaches the 90 competitor limit, registrants who pay the registration fee will be added to the waiting list instead of the competitor list. Due to the competitor limit, completing your registration within the initial registration period does not guarantee you a spot on the competitor list.

Waiting List

The waiting list is ordered based on the timestamp that registrants paid the registration fee. If you are added to the waiting list you will be informed via an email. Additionally, you can ask about your position on the waiting list by contacting the organization team.

If anyone on the competitor list deletes their registration, the person at the top of the waiting list will be moved to the competitor list. After March 8, 2024, the competitor list will be finalized and registrants who are still on the waiting list will be refunded 100% of their registration fee. Registrants on the waiting list may contact the organization team at any time to forfeit their spot on the waiting list and be refunded 100% of their registration fee.

If the competitor list fills up quickly, registration could close earlier than the originally listed date (March 8, 2024). The waiting list will close at the same time that registration closes.

WCA Newcomer Month 2024

This competition is participating in the official WCA Newcomer Month 2024. The registration process will reserve 30% of spots for new competitors. New competitors are considered to have no WCA ID or a WCA ID with 2024. Returning competitors are considered to have a WCA ID that is from 2023 or earlier. All competitors must still follow all registration requirements for their registration to be considered complete.

Registrations will be accepted based on the following:

  • 30% of spots, as defined by the competitor limit, are reserved for new competitors.
  • Initially, 70% of spots, as defined by the competitor limit, are available for returning competitors on a first come, first serve basis.
  • If greater than 30% of new competitors register before 70% of spots are filled by returning competitors, any additional new competitors will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis alongside returning competitors.
  • If the spots reserved for new competitors are not filled by new competitors before registration closes one week prior to the competition, remaining spots, up to the competitor limit, will be accepted from registered returning competitors.
