Information
First time competitors
WCA Regulations
Participants are expected to know WCA regulations before attending an official competition. We will have a competitor tutorial for new participants before the first event begins, where we will show how to compete in an official WCA competition. If you want to get a better idea of how the competition works already, please check these videos which will show you this. Reading through this guide. is also a good idea since it shows most things a competitor needs to know.
Pre-competition email
You will receive pre-competition email where we will address various important information for participants to know. This email will also include any changes made since the competition was announced. If there is any other urgent information which we need to communicate to competitors, then it will be done through e-mail so therefore it is important that you check your e-mail regularly.
Verification during competition day
Please bring a form of identification that states both your name and nationality e.g. IC, birth certificate, passport, driver’s license, etc, for verification purposes during on-site registration.
What to bring for the competition
You MUST bring your own puzzles for each event you are registered in. Ensure that your puzzles comply with the WCA Regulations. We also recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day. Many competitors like to have a “warm-up cube” to practice with while waiting for their official solve. You may also want to bring a jacket or hoodie in case the venue gets cold, as well as a hand warmer to keep your hands comfortable for solving.
Tutorial for new competitors
We will have a demonstration showing how the competing process works on Sunday afternoon before 3x3 First round begins, but we *highly recommend watching these videos * to get a good understanding of how solving in competition works. Reading through this guide is also a good idea since it shows most things a competitor needs to know.
What time should arrive the competition
You should be punctual for registration according the the competition schedule. If you only have events for Day 2, you can register on Day 2 instead. Please note that the schedule may be subjected to changes during the competition itself.
You need to be present at the venue at least 60 minutes before your event starts As the schedule may differ slightly from what was previously announced. If you’re not on time and miss the last call for that event, you will not be able to compete for that event. Missing any given event does not bar you from competing in subsequent events (but does bar you from competing in subsequent rounds of events you missed).

Welcome to the 1st Edition of Malaysia Inter-State Speedcubing Cup (MISC)
This is an experimental event and will be held annually during Malaysia Cube Championship. In this exciting knockout event, teams of 3 cubers from the same Malaysian state or territory will battle it out to find which state is fastest in Malaysia.
Team Selection
16 Teams consisting of 3 cubers from the same Malaysian state or territory will be selected to participate in the MISC. The information is verified according to the identification documents of the participating members (e.g. MyKad Address), at the discretion of the organisation team.
The top two teams from each state will qualify, with any remaining positions being filled from the next best teams up to a maximum of 3 teams per state. Confirmation e-mail will be sent to the selected teams after the registration period has closed.
Malaysia Inter-State Speedcubing Cup Regulations:
- The competition format is a simple seeded knockout tournament.
- Each competitor will solve a single 3x3 cube, one after another. The winning team is determined by the fastest total time.
- Standard WCA penalties (e.g. misalignment, timer stops/starts) apply for the solves.
- The members solve one 3x3x3 cube one after the other. Thus, there are 3 timers, 3 cubes and 3 competitors on the table.
- The second and third timers must be started only when the previous member has finished their solve and has put back the 2 hands on the timers.
- Inspection time applies to all 3 members at the same time.
- After 12 seconds of inspection, all 3 members of the same team must release their own cube on the mat, hold their two hands on the timers.
- The effective start of the 2 teams giving battle is given by the judge or official speaker.
- When the first solver is cubing, the second and third ones must hold their 2 hands on their timers. Same rule for the third solver while the second is solving their cube. Penalty: DNF.
- The second and third team members may continue inspecting while their teammate(s) are solving the cube, but must do so with their hands remaining on the timer.
- The winning team will be the team with the lowest total time.
- In case of the same total times, the best individual solve is used to declare the winning team.
- This is an unofficial team event, no results will be stored in the WCA database.
- As this is an experimental format, the judges for this event may exercise discretion in the case of disagreements and rule interpretation - their decision will be final.
