Thank you participating in Anaheim Winter 2022 A!

In order to make this event run as smooth as possible, please familiarize yourself with the WCA Regulations.

If this is your first time competing, it may be intimidating when you first walk in. To mitigate this, please watch this video that explains the basics of a cubing competition. Note that some changes have been made to competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Any changes will be explained in the competitor tutorial.

Here are some frequently asked questions:

Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: Yes, and they must comply with the WCA Regulations.

Q: Can I add or remove an event from my registration?
A: Not a problem. Send us a message through the contact link, and we will gladly change the events for which you are signed up.

Q: What are cutoffs?
A: Cutoffs are times that competitors must reach within their first two solves. We use them because we would like to expedite the competition as much as possible while still being fair.

Q: Can I come spectate?
A: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask that only compeitors attend. Competitors will each be permitted to bring one guest.

Q: Do I have to be present for events I'm not competing in?
A: No. You only have to be at the venue for the events in which you are competing. Click the schedule tab for more information. With that said, we recommend that you arrive early to give ample time to practice before competing.

Q: How do I find results?
A: Live results will be available on wcalive.com during the competition. This is also where you will find if you moved onto the 2nd round of any event. Once finalized, the results are posted on the WCA competition page.

Q: What is there to do when I'm not competing?
A: There are numerous tables where people can practice and hang out with other cubers.

Q: Are there age divisions?
A: All competitors compete in the same group.

During the competition, competitors will be assigned staff positions. Staff positions include scrambling and judging/running. You can learn more about these staff positions by watching this video that explains the basics of a cubing competition.

Please note that some aspects of competions have changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes will be explained in the competitor tutorial.

Competitors will be notified of their staffing positions through email a week before the competition. Additionally, staffing posistions will be on printed cards for competitors to pick up on the day of the competition.

To ensure the safety of attendees, we ask attendees to follow these guidelines:

Attendees are REQUIRED to provide proof of FULL vaccination (as defined by the CDC) or a negative COVID test from less than 48 hours before the start of the competition.

As of 12/30/21, this meant having both doses of Pfizer/Moderna at least 2 weeks ago, or one dose of J&J at least 2 weeks ago.

Additionally, competitors over the age of 18 are required to provide proof of recieving a COVID-19 booster vaccine.

  • Each competitor is limited to one guest.
  • Only attendees who are actively competing or staffing will be allowed inside the venue.
  • Attendees are required to stay at least 3 feet (1 meter) apart for the entirety of the competition
  • All attendees are required to wear face-coverings that cover their mouth and nose when using indoor facilities, competing, and staffing, and are recommended to wear face-coverings at all times.
  • All competitors showing symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been exposed to COVID-19 in the 2 weeks before the competition must not attend the competition.
  • Competitors will have one judge and will stay seated for the duration of each round. There will not be a competitor waiting area.
  • We will provide hand sanitizer, masks, and disinfecting wipes to everyone in attendance, and we encourage attendees to regularly sanitize.

All competitors must fill out the COVID-19 Safety Form prior to registering.
