IMPORTANT NOTE 2: This competition is happening immediately before (and in the same room as) FMC World 2026. If you wish to compete in both, you must sign up for each competition individually.

You only need to show up for the events that you're competing in - but we encourage you to show up for longer. Do note that we may run ahead of or behind schedule, so please be ready at least 30 minutes in advance just in case. An email will be sent out a few days before the competition with information/reminders.

There is a competitor limit of 25 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $20 (Canadian Dollar).
The registration fee has to be paid through Stripe here once registered.
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 50% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until .
If you are a registered competitor you may change your registered events until on the Register tab.
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.

If the competitor limit has been reached and you register and pay for this competition, then you will be on the waitlist. If/when accepted competitors cancel their registrations, spots will open up for people on the waitlist and competitors will be taken in the order they initially completed registration (i.e. paid). If you are accepted from off of the waitlist, you will be notified by receiving an email saying that your registration has been accepted. If you do not make it off the waitlist, then you will be fully refunded your registration fee and, unfortunately, will not be able to compete in the competition.

Public Transit
UBC is accessible by many buses and the venue is less than a 5 minute walk from the UBC bus loop/exchange. Please check Translink's alerts and plan your trip accordingly.
Food
There are many restaurants within walking distance from the venue.
As this is a small competition with only 1 or 2 groups per round, we will need everyone to help out when not competing - typically, this means you will need to judge when not competing.
Welcome
For those of you new to cubing - we'd like to welcome you to attend a competition, but this may NOT be a good competition to attend. This competition only has a few events (see the events tab), and it DOES NOT have 3x3x3 speedsolving. You may wish to search for other competitions in Canada. If you are a newcomer and you do in fact wish to compete in the event(s) held at this one, you are more than welcome to do so.

FAQs
Q: What will the competition look like?
A: Unlike normal competitions, this one will be smaller and quieter.
Q: Who is allowed to compete?
A: Everyone, from all ages are allowed to compete! You just need to register within the competitor limit.
Q: Whose cubes do I use?
A: When competing, it is ideal to use your own cube. Make sure you have one ready to go when it is time to compete (the competition will NOT supply you with cubes to compete with). Please be sure your cubes are compliant with WCA puzzle regulations. The competition will supply other equipment such as timers and scorecards.
Q: How do I check the results of the competition?
A: Check out WCA Live and search for the competition name to check live results throughout the day. Official results will then be posted within a few days of the end of the competition.
Q: How do I know when I am competing?
A: Group assignments for competing and staffing will be available on Competition Groups a few days before the competition.

Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Cutoff
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
