Call for Applicants - WEC Members (August 2018)

Announced by Lauren Clement on

The WCA Ethics Committee (WEC) is seeking qualified members to help them with their mission!

What does the WEC do?
The WEC's role is to ensure that all the procedures followed by the WCA Staff and External Staff abide by its Code of Ethics, and to perform independent investigations if the conduct of any of these members is not compliant with said Code of Ethics. Such investigations can be requested by any Registered Speedcubers, for whom the WEC is a confidant. This committee also functions as the board of appeal if anyone involved disagrees with a decision made by the WCA Disciplinary Committee.

The qualities expected of candidates are:
- Clear background
- Trustworthiness
- Independence
- Accountability

The application period is open for candidates to submit their candidacy document from now until September 4th, 2018, 23:59 UTC to Walker Welch (walkerewelch@gmail.com). The applications are open to everyone; it’s not a requirement to hold a current position in the WCA to be considered.

The candidacy documents must be in PDF format, and should include the following:
- Brief personal introduction
- Summary of activities done for the WCA
- Ambitions as a member of the WCA Ethics Committee.

Upon submission it will be confirmed if the document is in good order or if there are deficiencies.

More information on the WEC and the position can be found in this document. The rights and duties of the WEC can be seen in WCA Motion 10.2017.8.

After the application period, the WEC Leader will make a selection and the new members will be announced once candidates have accepted the positions.

Thank you for your interest in growing the WCA!
