ALL COMPETITORS MUST READ THIS TAB BEFORE REGISTERING.
For those of you new to cubing, WELCOME!
We wanted to let you know this event is perfectly fine for cubers of ANY age and experience.
There are multiple things a first-timer must know before competing. All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. There is a video here for the basic overview of the rules, also this helpful document.
ALL COMPETITORS:
When you arrive, you will receive a card/nametag with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you will also receive staffing assignments. All competitors are expected to help at this competition. For each event you sign up for, you will be assigned to help out for just one group of that event. If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.
We will provide a judging tutorial right before round 1 of 3x3. This will allow anyone with questions about how to judge to be properly prepared when they are expected to help. We hope that this system will fairly divide up the judging of the competition and make the competition run smoothly for all.
We will need help judging for the final rounds of events as we can not assign staff for those in advance. Parents and guests are encouraged to learn how to judge; you do not need to know how to cube in order to be a great judge. Enough judges ensures that we stay on schedule and are able to leave on time.
If you are stoked to compete and ready to sign up, head over to the registration tab, click register, and fill out the information it asks for. This will help you get set up in the WCA's system and get you one step closer to your first official solve!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: YES! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete. This means you should bring your own cube, or arrange to borrow a cube from a friend.
Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?
A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you though, everyone can and should cube!
Q: What do I do when I walk in?
A: There will be a check-in table right when you walk in. Tell them your name and they will get you your schedule. There will not be on site registration if you are unable to register in time. You must register online to be able to compete; however, anyone can spectate for free. We will be calling people up, so just wait for your name/group to be announced.
Q: How do I find results?
A: All results are posted on the WCA page within a week after the competition finishes. However, for the day of competing, go to the cubecomps website to find information about current events. This is also where you will find information about 2nd and 3rd rounds of events. Remember, the results are entered by a human so please be patient if you do not see your results immediately.
Q: Why am I not on the registration list yet?
A: Make sure you pay your entrance fee in order to be placed on the registered list, which will also guarantee you a spot in the competition. If there are any issues with payment, or you are not sure if you can attend, use the contact button to talk to us, and we will see if we can work out another payment strategy, or have you pay on arrival at the compeition. No matter what you situation may be in, however, please register online. ** For most competitions, you may only compete if you have registered online and paid before the deadline.**
Q: Are there age divisions?
A: Nope! All competitors compete together.
Q: Can I have fun at this event?
A: HECK YES! Cubing is amazing, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the competition!
