Ontario Favourites Autumn 2023 Series

This competition is in a series with Pickering Favourites Autumn 2023. You will only be able to compete in one of these two competitions. Attempting to register for both competitions will result in only one of your registrations being accepted.

Registration Reminders

Since this is a "favourites" competition, you may choose at most five (5) events.

You must register and pay the registration fee before your registration can be accepted. Unpaid registrations will not be accepted and registration fees will not be transferred across competitions. See the Competitor List and Waiting List sections near the bottom of this page for more details.

This competition is part of the Ontario Favourites Autumn 2023 Competition Series. Other competitions in this Series are: Note: You can submit a registration for all competitions in a Series, but only one of those registrations can be confirmed and accepted. You will only be allowed to compete in one of the Series competitions!
There is a competitor limit of 160 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $35 (Canadian Dollar).
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 95% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until .
If you are a registered competitor you may change your registered events until on the Register tab.
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.
Spectators are only permitted as companions of competitors.
Competitors may bring at most 1 guest.
Competitors may register in at most 5 events.

Competitor List

Registrants must pay the registration fee in order to be added to the competitor list. Unpaid registrations will not be accepted. Organizers manually accept registrations one at a time in the order the registration fees are paid, so your name may not appear on the competitor list immediately.

Once the competitor list reaches the 160 competitor limit, registrants who pay the registration fee will be added to the waiting list instead of the competitor list. Due to the competitor limit, completing your registration within the initial registration period does not guarantee you a spot on the competitor list.

Waiting List

The waiting list is ordered based on the timestamp that registrants paid the registration fee. If you are added to the waiting list you will be informed via an email. Additionally, you can ask about your position on the waiting list by emailing Speedcubing Canada.

If anyone on the competitor list deletes their registration, the person at the top of the waiting list will be moved to the competitor list. After December 7, 2023, the competitor list will be finalized and registrants who are still on the waiting list will be refunded 100% of their registration fee. Registrants on the waiting list may email Speedcubing Canada at any time to forfeit their spot on the waiting list and be refunded 100% of their registration fee.

If the competitor list fills up quickly, registration could close earlier than the originally listed date (December 7, 2023). The waiting list will close at the same time that registration closes.

Favourites Competition

Since this is a "favourites" competition, you may choose at most five (5) events. Registrations with more than five (5) events will NOT be accepted.

General

Parking

RIM Park has a large public parking lot with free parking. The recommended area to park is the west end of the lot, closest to University Avenue East.

Entering the Building

The entrance closest to Forbes hall is the main entrance "A" at the west end of the building (see Image 1 below).

Once you're in the building, you can take the stairs or elevator up to Forbes Hall (see Image 2 below). The check-in desk will be on the left side of the hallway.

Arrival

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your first event is scheduled to begin. You do not need to arrive at the beginning of the competition if your first event is later in the day.

Name Tag Pick-up

Competitors will be able to pick up their name tags at the data entry desk at any time during the competiiton.

Wi-Fi

There is free public wi-fi in the building. The network is called "Waterloo Public Wifi" and there is no password.

Food

The nearest food option is a café and pizza place inside the building.

There are also several restaurants and fast food places within a 5-minute drive along Northfield Drive.

We're pleased to have CANcube as the sponsor of Waterloo Favourites Autumn 2023! CANCube will be providing gift cards to all podium finishers for use at their online store.


Prizes

Winners will receive CANcube gift cards in the following amounts:

  • 1st place: $10.00
  • 2nd place: $7.50
  • 3rd place: $5.00

The Fastest First-Time Competitor in 3x3x3 Cube at this competition will be provided a $10.00 gift card from CANcube!

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
