Information

This is the Virginia Quiet Championship, but anyone can compete regardless of their state of residence. See more information on the Championship Eligibility tab.

This competition only has blind events and Fewest Moves, therefore, we do not recommend it for new competitors. If you're looking for a more conventional cubing competition, you might be interested in other competitions in Virginia; Such as Virginia Championship 2026.

There is a competitor limit of 40 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $20 (United States Dollar).
The registration fee has to be paid through Stripe here once registered.
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 90% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until .
If you are a registered competitor you may change your registered events until on the Register tab.
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.

Please keep in mind that registrations are approved manually after payment, so your registration may not be approved immediately.
Your registration is not complete until your registration fee has been paid.
All competitiors must read the "Competitor Responsibilities" tab.

WAITLIST INFORMATION:
If the competitor limit of 40 has been reached, you can still register and pay the registration fee to secure a spot on the waitlist. During the registration period, any competitor can cancel their registration and allow the first person on the waitlist to take their spot. If you find that you cannot make it to the competition after registering, please contact us so that we can maximize attendance.
All registrants still on the waitlist after the registration period will have their registrations deleted, and will be fully refunded.
We may completely close registration if the waitlist becomes very large.

Parking:
The library has a small parking lot behind it. Additionally, there is also free street parking at and near the library.

Getting to the Room:
The Theater Corridor has two entrances; from either the back parking lot or front of the library Enter the side door and the room will be in front of you. You may refer to the library's floorplan below. Please note: the entrance labelled "Theater Entrance" will not be open for this event. If you plan to stay at the Venue past 5:00 PM, please be mindful that the main Library closes at 5:30, and after that time you are required to remain in the competition's room. Anyone who exits the Library will need to be let in by someone who is already inside.

Public Transit: The Fredericksburg (FBG) Amtrak Station is a 15 minute walk from the venue.

Hotels: There is no dedicated hotel room block for this competition. There are hotels in reasonable walking distance from the venue.

Dining: There are several restaurants in walking distance from the venue.

Tourism: Fredericksburg is sometimes referred to as "America's Most Historic City", and with good reason. There is so much to explore in the city, and we encourage exploring the history-rich city before/after the competition.

For First-Time Competitors

All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. This video gives a basic overview of the rules. In addition, please read this document before coming to the competition.

For All Competitors

When you arrive, you will receive a card with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you may also have judging/scrambling/running assignments on your card. Every competitor is expected to help out during the event(s) they are registered for. The card will look like the following:

If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.

Stationary/Fixed Seating w/ Running Judges

In this format, there is no competitor waiting area and competitors will complete all their solves for the round at the same solving station. Each solving station is numbered and a cube cover will be already at the station with a matching number.

When the competitor’s group is called, the competitor goes up to that stage’s scorecard table and collects their scorecard.
Competitor goes to any open solving station with their scorecard and puzzle.
If there are no open stations, please wait a couple of minutes or see a Delegate.
Competitor makes sure they have the correct numbered cover at their station. Competitor puts their puzzle and their scorecard in the numbered cube cover and holds it for a “running judge” to pick up. Competitor will stay in this spot throughout the entire round.
Running judge takes the cube cover(s) to the scramblers.
Running judge drops off their puzzle(s) and takes the next available scrambled puzzle to the corresponding competitor/station based on the number on the cube cover and proceeds to judge their attempt.
NOTE: The running judge may not be judging the same competitor each time.
After each attempt, the running judge packs the solved cube and competitor scorecard in the cube cover and brings this to the scramblers.
Repeat this process until all competitors in the group have completed all their attempts.

Virginia Quiet Championship 2026 is open to all competitors. However, the title of Virginia Champion in each event will be restricted to competitors from Virginia. In order to be eligible to win a title, you must log in to the CubingUSA website with your WCA account and select your home state by August 21st, 2026 at 11:59pm EDT. After the competition has ended, Virginia Champions may also be required to prove residency in order to claim their titles and any additional prizes associated thereof. Please see the regional title policy found here for more details on how this system works.

The 2026 Virginia Championship for Speedsolving events will be held from October 17-18 in Richmond, at the Henrico Sports and Events Center. The Top-3 Finishers in each event from Virginia Quiet Championship will be recognized at that competition.

You do not have to compete in Virginia Quiet Championship to compete in Virginia Championship, and you do not have to compete in Virginia Championship to compete in Virginia Quiet Championship. You may compete in one or both of these competitions.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced across rounds (see Regulation A1a2).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.

Advancement Condition

The number of competitors shown as advancing to the next round is the planned maximum. The actual number may be lower if there are fewer competitors than expected, or if there are ties at the boundary.
