You only need to show up for the events that you're competing in - but we encourage you to show up for longer. Do note that we may run ahead of or behind schedule, particularly for events in the afternoon please be ready at least 30 minutes in advance just in case.

There is a competitor limit of 80 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $30 (Canadian Dollar).
The registration fee has to be paid through Stripe here once registered.
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 50% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until .
If you are a registered competitor you may change your registered events until on the Register tab.
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.
Spectators are only permitted as companions of competitors.
Competitors may bring at most 1 guest.

If the competitor limit has been reached and you register and pay for this competition, then you will be on the waitlist. If/when accepted competitors cancel their registrations, spots will open up for people on the waitlist and competitors will be taken in the order they initially completed registration (i.e. paid). If you are accepted from off of the waitlist, you will be notified by receiving an email saying that your registration has been accepted. If you do not make it off the waitlist, then you will be fully refunded your registration fee and, unfortunately, will not be able to compete in the competition.

There is parking available at the venue. There are also other parking options nearby.
Public Transit
If you are taking a ferry, please check BC Ferries schedules and travel advisories leading up to your journey. We highly recommend booking a reservation.
If you are coming from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal, you can get to the venue by a combination of two buses. To get to downtown Victoria, you must take either the #70 bus route (Downtown via Hwy 17) or the #72 bus route (Downtown via Saanichton). Regardless of which you choose, you must get off at Southbound Douglas at Courtney. From there, transfer to either the #2 bus route (James Bay - Fisherman's Wharf) or the #5 bus route (James Bay - Fisherman's Wharf). Both of these routes have stops on Dallas Rd, which is a short walk from the venue.
If you are returning to Swartz Bay after the competition, you can retrace these steps by taking the #2/#5 bus to downtown Victoria, and then making the bus connection to get back on the #70/#72 bus.

Food
There are several food options within a 15 minute walk / short drive of the venue.
If this isn't your first competition, you will be assigned some judging and/or running duties throughout the competition. You will only be assigned these tasks in events that you're competing in. If you don't know how to judge or run, make sure to come to the competitor tutorial at the start of the competition.
Your scheduled duties will be on the back of your name tag (explained in the competitor tutorial), and also on Competition Groups about a week before the competition (more details will be sent by email), so please be aware of when you're expected to come up and help. This is required to keep the competition running smoothly and on time, since it is purely run by volunteeers. For final rounds with only one group, there are usually no assigned duties, so if you see an empty judging seat then please come up and fill it.

If you need help or are confused about any of these duties, just ask an organizer or an experienced competitor and they can explain.
We also ask that you keep the venue as tidy as possible - please put garbage/recycling/etc. in the appropriate bins when you're leaving.

Welcome
For those of you new to cubing - WELCOME! This competition is fine for cubers of any age and experience. We just ask you to be aware of these basics before coming to compete.
Resources
If you haven't been to a competition before, we'd strongly recommend looking through all of the below resources. Although there will be a competitor tutorial at the start of the competition (see the Schedule tab), reviewing these in advance is very helpful.

Finally, note that all competitors are expected to be familiar with the WCA Regulations. Note that the resources above are meant to summarize some of the most prominent regulations, among other things.

FAQs
Q: What will the competition look like?
A: A competition usually runs throughout the whole day where cubers meet up and have fun, although you are more than welcome to stay the whole day or leave whenever. You will compete in events you have signed up for, and when not competing you're able to hang out in the audience and interact with other cubers.
Q: Who is allowed to compete?
A: Everyone, from all ages are allowed to compete! (You just need to register within the competitor limit.) Do not be hesitant if you are not experienced with cubing or competing, we encourage newcomers to come along, we will help out.
Q: Whose cubes do I use?
A: When competing, it is ideal to use your own cube. Make sure you have one ready to go when it is time to compete. (The competition will NOT supply you with cubes to compete with.) Please be sure your cubes are compliant with WCA puzzle regulations. Equipment like timers will be there to compete with.
Q: How do I check the results of the competition?
A: Check out WCA Live and search for the competition name to check live results throughout the day. Official results will then be posted within a few days of the end of the competition.
Q: How do I know when I'm competing?
A: Your competition schedule, which includes all rounds you're competing and staffing in will also be available at Competition Groups about a week before the competition.
Q: Can I judge if I have never judged before?
A: Yes, new competitors and spectators can help judge this competition. Please watch this video to learn how to judge.
Do not be intimidated by all these rules and expectations. Competitions are for everyone to have fun! If at any time during the day you have any questions feel free to ask an organizer or other competitors!

Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Cutoff
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
