Hi all, I hope everyone is doing well.

Unfortunately, I write to everyone today with bad news regarding Subalpine Cube Fest 2020.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic here in Colorado, our venue that we were planning on using for Subalpine Cube Fest will not be allowing us to use the venue on the competition date in 3 weeks. As well, restrictions in Colorado will most likely not lift for us in time to host such a large gathering. Due to the reasoning above, the organizers have no other choice but to CANCEL Subalpine Cube Fest 2020 on June 6.

Don’t fret though, if you signed up and paid for the competition, you will be receiving a full, 100 percent refund of your registration fees in the coming days.

We understand that most of you will be upset over this decision, but please note that the number one priority of the organizers is to keep all of our competitors safe. It is simply too risky to hold such an event during this time period. Thus, we hope you can understand our reasoning behind our decision.

Please continue to stay safe and stay home. We hope we can see all at a competition in the future.

-Organizers of Subalpine Cube Fest 2020.

ALL COMPETITORS MUST READ THIS BEFORE REGISTERING

On the morning of the competition, you will receive a lanyard with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. We will be relying on competitors to help by judging throughout the course of the competition.

We will provide a competitor tutorial that will include a judging tutorial at the beginning of the day. This tutorial will be right before the first round of 2x2. This will allow anyone with questions about how to judge to be properly prepared when they are expected to help. Parents and guests are encouraged to learn how to judge. You do not need to know how to cube in order to be a great judge. Having enough judges ensures that we stay on schedule and are able to leave on time.

Thank you for your cooperation to help this be an awesome competition!

This event is open to cubers of any age and experience. For those of you new to cubing, welcome! We just ask that you know a couple things before coming to compete...

First, please be familiar with the WCA Regulations, found here.

Below we have put a video made specifically for competitors, to show them the basics of competing. This video will explain most of what every competitor will need to know, but they should still be familiar with all the regulations.

FAQ:
Q: Are there any restrictions on competing?
A: Nope! Anyone of any skill can compete in this competition, including first-timers. As long as you know how to solve the cube, go ahead and sign up!

Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: Yes! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete.

Q: How do I find results?
A: All results are posted on the WCA page a couple of days after the competition finishes. However, on the day of the competion you can go to WCA Live to find live results.

Q: Why am I not on the registration list yet?
A: When you register, make sure you have paid the registration fee. Afterwards, your registration must then be manually accepted, so please wait at least 24 hours before contacting us. You should receive an email when your registration is accepted.

Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?
A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you though, everyone can cube!
