COVID-19 FAQ

Q. Will there be an attendee limit at this competition?
Yes, in order to comply with state laws regarding COVID restrictions, there is a limit of one guest per competitor.

Q. Will hand sanitiser and face masks be provided at the competition?
Yes. Upon entering the venue there will be a personal hygiene station equipt with a supply of hand sanitiser and face masks.

Q. Do I have to wear a face mask?
No, wearing face masks is not mandatory. However, it is recommended by delegates as per the World Cube Association Competition Safety Policy in order to limit the potential spread of the virus.

Q. Can I bring my own face mask and/or hand sanitiser?
Yes, it is recommended that you bring your own face mask and hand sanitiser bottle. However, these will still be provided at the venue for attendee use.

Q. Will there be social distancing at the competition?
Yes. Attendees will be instructed to keep at least 1m (3ft) apart. There will also be a limit of one competitor and one judge per table who will be instructed to stay 1m apart, unless closer proximity is required by the regulations (e.g. for the judge to lift the cube cover for an attempt). Runners will also need to maintain social distancing unless required to place a cube on a solving station. The competition will use fixed solving stations meaning no competitor waiting area will be required.
Please contact Speedcubing Australia if you have any further questions.

Q. Will the scramblers be putting slippery hand sanitiser on my cubes?
Nope! Before handing in your cubes for each round you will be required to spray your cube with a light spray of disinfectant, which should dry quickly before you even hand your cube in. This will help stop the potential spread of the virus while avoiding slippery cubes due to other sanitisation methods.

Q. Can I still borrow other peoples' cubes?
No. In order to stop the potential spread of the virus, competitors and attendees will not be allowed to borrow other peoples' cubes.
Please make sure your cubes are legal for competition, especially for events such as 3x3 blindfolded (no logos!). All of the information regarding cube legality can be found in the WCA Regulations. If you are unsure about this please don't hesitate to contact Speedcubing Australia with any questions.

Q. Where can I ask other questions?
We can be reached at support@speedcubing.org.au.
