For First-Time Competitors

All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. This Video gives a basic overview of the rules.

When you arrive, you will receive a card with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you will also have judging/scrambling assignments on your card. Every competitor is expected to help out during the event(s) they are registered for. The card will look like the following:

If you have any questions at the competition, talk to one of our staff members. If you have questions before the competition, contact us.

If you do not arive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competitng.

This competition will be held in the cafeteria of Saint John's High School. [Saint John's High School, 378 Main St, Shrewsbury, MA 01545]

There is plenty of free parking at the venue.

Lunch is NOT included in price of registration. However, competitors, guests, and spectators will be able to conveniently purchase items like hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, salad and snacks in the cafeteria.

The t-shirt will be shipped directly to you. No t-shirts will be sold at the event. All sales are online.

Please be aware that it will take 1-2 weeks for the t-shirt to arrive so plan accordingly if you want it to arrive before the event.


Before registration opens
If you don't have a WCA account, you should create one here before registration opens.

How to Register
Log in to your WCA account, and click on the register link on the left side of this page. Your registration is not considered complete until you've paid the $25 registration fee via Stripe.

Waiting List
Due to limited space, this competition has a 100-person competitor limit. After 100 people have registered and paid, all additional competitors will be added to the waiting list. You need to pay the registration fee to be added to the waiting list; we'll refund your fee if you don't get in.

You'll be notified by March 18 if you were accepted from the waiting list.

Refunds
All competitors who cancel their registration by March 18 will have 50% of their registration fee refunded. All competitors who are not accepted from the waiting list wil have their entire registration fee refunded.

All competitors will be expected to judge and scramble throughout the day.

If you would like to apply as staff, you may apply to do so at this link. Staff members are expected to spend the majority of the day volunteering and working. They will receive free registration and lunch.

Please note that full time staff still have to pay upfront, and you will be refunded after the competition if you are selected, you attend, and are actively helping.

This competition is being sponsored by TheCubicle, and they will be generously providing gift cards as prizes for podiums, as well as small prizes for all first-time competitors!

There are no COVID-related restrictions, though competitors should feel free to wear a mask if they would prefer to do so.

This competition is organized by Cube New England, a group dedicated to growing the speedcubing community in New England, USA.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
