There is a competitor limit of 50 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $30 (Canadian Dollar).
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 50% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until .
If you are a registered competitor you may change your registered events until on the Register tab.
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.
Spectators are only permitted as companions of competitors.
By registering, you indicate that you understand any health and safety measures listed on the website, and acknowledge that these may need to be updated in the lead up to the competition. If any changes are made, the website will be updated and registered competitors will be notified by email.
Registration is first come, first served based on the order of when payment is received. Once the competitor limit has been reached, a waitlist opens. This waitlist will be maintained for those who secure waitlist registration by making payment in the event a competitor vacancy opens up. Competitors will be accepted from the waitlist in the order that they paid.
Competitors who do not make it off of the waitlist will receive a 100% refund shortly before the competition starts.This is a Series competition (more info in the Series competition tab), and you may only register for one of the pair. Make sure you don't mix them up; this is A, on Saturday.

Welcome
For those of you new to cubing - WELCOME! This competition is fine for cubers of any age and experience. We just ask you to be aware of these basics before coming to compete and please be familiar with the WCA Regulations.
Note: There have been some minor updates to the regulations recently. In particular, they require the competitor to finish signing (not just for the judge to finish signing) before the competitor may reset the timer. This (and more) will be reviewed in the competitor tutorial at the start of the day.
Of course, those regulations contain a lot of legalese, so we have a video made specifically for new cubers, just to show the basics of competing. This video will explain most of what any cuber competing for the first time will need to know.

FAQs
Q: What do competitions look like?
A: Rubik's Cube competitions are where people come together, hangout with others, make friends and compete.
Q: Who is allowed to compete?
A: Everyone, from all ages are allowed to compete! Do not be discouraged if you are not experienced with cubing or competing, we encourage newcomers to come along, we will be more than happy to help out.
Q: Do I have to stay the for whole competition?
A: No, you are more than free to join/leave throughout the day - just make sure you are on time to compete/volunteer.
Q: Whose cubes do I use?
A: When competing, it is ideal to use your own cube. Make sure you have one ready to go when it is time to compete. Equipment like timers will be there to compete with. (We will not supply you with cubes to compete.)
Q: How do I check the results of the competition?
A: There will be a website: WCA Live to check concurrent results throughout the day. Official results will then be posted on this page in the following days of the competition.
Q: How do I find out about more events like these?
A: We have a Facebook Vancouver Cubing group We will have meetups occassionally and annouce other events in there!
Do not be daunted by all these rules and expectations. Competitions are for everyone to have fun! If at any time during the day you have any questions, feel free to ask us!

All experienced competitors will be scheduled by the organizers to serve as judges, runners, and/or scramblers. Schedules will be posted at the venue and found on the back of the prepared name tags on the day of competition.
Because of our limited competitor size, we kindly ask that everyone tries to out by judging, scramble or run, in order to keep pace with the day. Sanitization will be needed as well for all competing stations periodically.
We will need a helping hand in judging for events with multiple rounds since there will be no assigned judges along with competitors heading out throughout the day.
Serving in these essential roles - including on the spot invitations to both competitors and attendees to assist the organizer as co-runners - makes for a smooth and excellently run competition for all.

Series competitions are two (or more) competitions, often (but not always) on consecutive days, for which you may only register for one of the series. See section 2.5 of the WCA Competition Requirements Policy if you're curious for more information.
This is to avoid risk of COVID and follow health and safety guidelines while still allowing more people to register and compete over the weekend. Only register for one competition. If there is an attempt to register for both, you will only be placed in one, meaning that you are not to attend both dates unless you are a guest of a competitor.
Please do not show up to a competition that you are not competing at, unless you are a guest of a competitor, as spectators are limited to one per competitor.
You are only allowed to compete for one of these days!
Travel
The Ukrainian Centre is a 25 minute drive from downtown Vancouver and 45 minute drive from the US border.
Transit:
The venue can be reached by taking the "Canada Line" skytrain station then catching the 402 bus or the 406 bus, into a 2 minute walk towards the venue.
You can also use Google Maps to help you receive a more precise route to the venue.
Parking
There is free parking just outside the venue when you head in. ~50 spots available
Food
The nearest food available is Blundell Centre (2min drive/15 min walk) or Domino's Pizza/7-11 (2 min drive/13 min walk)
Venue
- Bathrooms are to your right upon entrance
- Food & Drink is allowed - Please keep venue as clean as possible.

Team Blindfolded is an unofficial event.
We will be hosting this event as part of the day. This is not one of the events listed on the registration page nor is this event listed in the WCA.
How it works
In partners of 2, Person (A) , will have a blindfold on and attempt to solve a 3x3 while person (B) gives instructions.
Rules
15 second inspection given to Person B then you put down the cube, then Person A starts with timer. Regular rules apply during the solve and after.

3 Attempts given. 10 min time limit. Top 3 results by single will receive a prize!

Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Cutoff
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
