Cube Against Cancer is in collaboration with Ethan’s Ohana, a charity founded by Brian Perry in honor of his son Ethan. Ethan battled T-Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, and during treatment, Ethan learned to solve the cube and became obsessed. The cube provided great comfort to Ethan during his treatment, but tragically, Ethan lost his battle with cancer on March 25, 2021. Ethan’s Ohana honors his legacy by donating cubes, puzzles, and toys to pediatric cancer patients. You can learn more about Ethan’s Ohana at EthansOhana.org
Cube Against Cancer began in Houston in 2023 and has donated over 1500 cubes to date. In 2025, competitions expanded across the United States. Throughout the first half of 2026, competitions are being held throughout the world, all aiming to provide comfort through cubes and STEM items to cancer patients. ALL COMPETITORS MUST READ THIS TAB BEFORE REGISTERING
For First-Time Competitors
All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. This video gives a basic overview of the rules. In addition, please read this document before coming to the competition.
For All Competitors
When you arrive, you will receive a card with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you may also have judging/scrambling/running assignments on your card. Every competitor is expected to help out during the event(s) they are registered for. The card will look like the following:

If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.
Stationary/Fixed Seating
In this format, there is no competitor waiting area and competitors will complete all their solves for the round at the same solving station. Each solving station is numbered and a cube cover will be already at the station with a matching number.
When the competitor’s group is called, the competitor goes up to that stage’s “drop-off” table and collects their scorecard.
Competitor goes to any open solving station with their scorecard and puzzle.
If there are no open stations, please wait a couple of minutes or see a Delegate to see if there are open stations at other stages. A station may open up as competitors from the previous group finish.Competitor makes sure they have the correct numbered cover at their station.
If the competitor is in need of a judge, they raise their hand.
The competitor drops their solved puzzle and their scorecard into the cube cover. The judge or competitor then holds up the cover to signify it is ready to be scrambled.
A runner picks up the cube and takes it to the scramblers. After it is scrambled, a runner knows where to return it based on the station number on the cube cover.
The competitor completes all of their solves at this station for the round.
Links will be posted here at a later date.
Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Cutoff
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
