Venue

The competition is at UBC, in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, located at 1961 East Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z1, in room 155.

Parking

Parking information can be found here.

Public Transit

UBC is accessible by many buses and the venue is less than a 5 minute walk from the UBC bus loop/exchange. Due to construction and other unforeseen circumstances, buses may be delayed. Please check Translink alerts and plan your trip accordingly.

Food

There are many restaurants within walking distance from the venue.

As this is a small competition with only 1 or 2 groups per round, everyone is expected to help out when not competing — typically by judging.

Welcome

For those new to cubing — we'd like to welcome you to attend a competition, but this is probably NOT a good competition to attend. This competition only has blindfolded events and fewest moves, and it DOES NOT HAVE THE 3x3x3 CUBE. For regular speedsolving events, please search for other competitions in Canada.

Regulations

All competitors are expected to be familiar with the WCA Regulations.

Q: What will the competition look like?
A: Unlike normal competitions, this one will be small and quiet. Spectators are welcome, but they must remain quiet/undistracting the entire time.

Q: Who is allowed to compete?
A: Competitors of all ages are welcome. However, for this particular competition, you must know how to solve a cube blindfolded, or be able to complete a fewest moves attempt (or both).

Q: How do I check the results of the competition?
A: Check WCA Live and search for the competition name to see live results throughout the day. Official results will be posted within a few days after the competition ends.

Q: How do I know when I am competing?
A: Group assignments for competing and staffing will be available on Competition Groups a few days before the competition.

If you have any questions or concerns before the competition, go to the "General Info" tab and reach out via the "Contact" section. We look forward to seeing you at the competition!

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
