ALL COMPETITORS MUST READ THIS TAB BEFORE REGISTERING.
You will receive a card/nametag with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you will also receive staffing assignments. All competitors are expected to help at this competition due to the low amount of competitors expected. You will most likely have to help in events you are not competing in, including but not limited to helping with judging and scrambling big blindfolded events.
A brief judging tutorial will be given before the start of 4BLD/5BLD on how to judge blindfolded events.
We will need help judging for the second/final rounds of events as we can not assign staff for those in advance. Parents and guests are encouraged to learn how to judge; you do not need to know how to cube in order to be a great judge. Having enough judges ensures that we stay on schedule and are able to leave on time.
Registering for this competition means you agree to all the above and will help out during the competition.
This event is open to cubers of any age and experience. For those of you new to cubing, welcome! We just ask that you know a couple things before coming to compete...
First, please be familiar with the WCA Regulations, found here.
Below we have put a video made specifically for new cubers, just to show them the basics of competing. This video will explain most of what a first timer will need to know, but they should still be familiar with all the regulations.
FAQ:
Q: Are there any restrictions on competing?
A: Nope! Anyone of any skill can compete in this competition, including first-timers. As long as you know how to solve the cube, go ahead and sign up!
Q: Do spectators have to pay?
A: No! All spectators are let into building for free.
Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: Yes! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete.
Q: How do I find results?
A: All results are posted on the WCA page a couple of days after the competition finishes. However, for the day of competing, go to wca.link/live to find information about current events.
Q: Why am I not on the registration list yet?
A: When you register, make sure you have paid the registration fee. Afterwards, your registration must then be manually accepted, so please wait at least 24 hours before contacting us. You should receive an email when your registration is accepted.
Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?
A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you though, everyone can cube!
Q: Are there age divisions?
A: No! All competitors are on an equal playing field.

As all of you currently know, the COVID-19 pandemic has been taking its toll around the world, with over 150,000 infected and a mortality rate of around 2 percent. A few days ago, the virus was declared a global pandemic and a threat to public health by the World Health Organization. Currently, there is also a state of emergency in Colorado, with over 130 cases of the novel virus now confirmed around the state.
Lately, we have been monitoring the situation of the outbreak around the state and have been in contact with public health officials. Our original plan was to hold the competitions as normal, but the information over the last few days has shifted the mood and concern for community spread is now very high. We have now received notice that the CDC has recommended postponing all events with 50+ people through May 15, and we have decided to follow through.
Because we cannot guarantee the safety of competitors and guests attending competitions in regards to the spread of a pandemic disease, we have made the tough decision to cancel Pikes Peak Big and Blind 2020. If you were signed up , you will receive a full refund. We are very sorry for any inconvenience that this move causes. We all know and share your disappointment, but we believe that this move is the best to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please stay tuned for a rescheduling of the competition. A date will be revealed at a later time.
Happy Cubing, and please stay safe and healthy.
Zachary Miller, on behalf of the organizing team.
