There is a competitor limit of 330 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $30 (Australian Dollar).
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee.
We encourage everyone to register for the events they want to compete in via your online registration, however you may add events to your registration up until the event has started.
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.


Payment:

Upon registering you will receive an email stating “Your registration for NSW State Championship 2021 is submitted and pending approval”. This does NOT mean that you are on the registration list. Competitors will not be approved until payment has been made.

Please ensure you have paid the registration fees via Stripe on the register page. Your registration is not complete and will not be processed until you have paid the $30 registration fee. Contact the organisational team if you encounter an issue.

Waiting List:

  • Once the competitor limit of 300 has filled, the waiting list will be opened.
  • You must pay the $30 registration fee to be added to the waiting list.
  • New registrations will be added to a waitlist and sorted in the order of payment.
  • Waitlisted competitors will only be added to the competition if an existing competitors withdraws.
  • All competitors still on the waiting list after 18/06/2021 will be removed and provided with a full refund.
  • You may enquire about your position on the waiting list by contacting the organisational team.

Deleting Registration/Refunds:

  • If you can no longer make the competition you may request a refund.
  • To receive a full refund you must contact the organisational team by 18/06/2021.
  • Withdrawing enables us to maximise attendance and for competitors on the waiting list to attend.
  • Refunds will only be issued after this date if you are feeling unwell with COVID-19 symptoms or are awaiting a COVID test and can no longer attend the competition.

You may change the events you are registered for by contacting the organisational team by 18/06/2021. After this date it is no longer possible to add events. It is also acceptable to not show up for any event you do not wish to compete in.

Q. How can I change my events?
You must make any change to your registered events by 18/06/2021. Contact the organisational team detailing your event changes.

Q. What time should I arrive at the competition?
You should arrive for registration between 8:45 and 9:30 on the Saturday - please do not arrive before this time as we will still be setting up. You should be at the venue ready to compete 30 minutes before you are scheduled. Please note the schedule is subject to change on the day.

Q. How old do I have to be to compete?
Anyone can compete at any age! We encourage anyone considering to compete to register as it will be a great experience regardless of age.

Q. How fast do I have to be to compete?
To compete you only need to know how to solve the cube! Please check the events tab for information in time limits for each event.

Q. What do I need to know before the competition day?
Before attending you should have read and understood the WCA regulations . We also recommend that you watch this helpful competitor guide and read this competition tutorial. You should also know when your events are scheduled throughout the day.

Q. How do I find out if I've progressed to the second round?
Times will be uploaded through the day. Please allow up to an hour from finishing your solves to them being uploaded. After all the times of a round has been entered, you can see if you are in the following round.

COVID-safe FAQs

Q. Will there be an attendee limit at this competition?
Yes, in order to comply with state laws regarding COVID restrictions (the two square metre rule), we request that competitors only bring only one guest if possible. All competitors and guests will be required to sign-in using the QR code check-in system.

Q. Will hand sanitiser be provided at the competition?
Yes, at the venue entrance and at cube drop off tables there will be hand sanitizer available. We will also have disposable gloves available.

Q. Do I have to wear a face mask?
Yes, in line with the latest NSW government restrictions face masks will be required.

Q. What actions can competitors and spectators take to be COVID-safe?
Competitors and guests should wash and sanitize their hands frequently, and wear a mask in line with Government guidance. It is recommended competitors bring their own waterbottle and do not share food and drink with others. The sharing of puzzles between competitors is also discouraged - competitors should bring all their required puzzles to the competition. Competitors are encouraged to avoid carpools with people from different household groups.

This competition will be using pre-generated groups for first rounds. Additionally, all competitors have been assigned particular groups to act as a judge - you are encouraged to help out at other times, but at these times at a minimum.

Please note that we will be using multiple stages at this competition - Blue, Red, and Green - meaning we will often be running multiple groups simultaneously. Please listen carefully to announcements on the day.

We have prepared a summary of all groups including which stage it is on, as well as a personalised group list for each competitor. Competitors will also be provided with their groups on the day.

This speedcubing competition is open to ALL competitors. However, the title of New South Wales State Champion for each event will be awarded to the top-ranked competitor who lives in NSW.

You will ONLY be eligible for the title of NSW State Champion at this competition if you register your home state as NSW in this form. You are welcome to compete in other state championship competitions, but you will NOT be able to compete for another State Champion title.

Live Results

Live results will be provided via WCALive. It may take up to an hour between times being set and them appearing online.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced across rounds (see Regulation A1a2).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
