For First-Time Competitors
All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. This video gives a basic overview of the rules. In addition, please read this document before coming to the competition.
For All Competitors
When you arrive, you will receive a card with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you may also have judging/scrambling/running assignments on your card. Every competitor is expected to help out during the event(s) they are registered for. The card will look like the following:

If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.
Stationary/Fixed Seating
In this format, there is no competitor waiting area and competitors will complete all their solves for the round at the same solving station. Each solving station is numbered and a cube cover will be already at the station with a matching number.
When the competitor’s group is called, the competitor goes up to that stage’s “drop-off” table and collects their scorecard.
Competitor goes to any open solving station with their scorecard and puzzle.
If there are no open stations, please wait a couple of minutes or see a Delegate to see if there are open stations at other stages. A station may open up as competitors from the previous group finish.Competitor makes sure they have the correct numbered cover at their station.
If the competitor is in need of a judge, they raise their hand.
The competitor drops their solved puzzle and their scorecard into the cube cover. The judge or competitor then holds up the cover to signify it is ready to be scrambled.
A runner picks up the cube and takes it to the scramblers. After it is scrambled, a runner knows where to return it based on the station number on the cube cover.
The competitor completes all of their solves at this station for the round.

Moore Cubes in Loudoun 2026 will feature Dual Rounds! This is an exciting new format in which all competitors will be allowed to participate in both the first and second rounds of an event, in this case, 3x3x3 Cube. The best result each competitor achieves in either of the two rounds will be used to determine the final rankings going into the Top-24 3x3x3 Final. Competitors who do not participate in the first round are still eligible to participate in the second round.
It is possible that dual rounds at this competition will be cancelled with very short notice if serious technical issues are discovered in the software implementation. If this occurs, we will revert to the top 75% in the first round advancing to the second round. Updates on dual round status will be emailed to all registered competitors.
This competition will also test the new Integrated Live Results system. Live results will be available on a program different from WCA Live. The link to the results will be posted under the "Groups and Live Results" tab shortly before the competition.
Here are some of the WCA Regulations which describe how Dual Rounds work:
9v) Two consecutive rounds of an event may be designated as Dual Rounds.
9v1) Dual Rounds may include only the first two rounds of an event.
9v2) Dual Rounds must not include the final round of a National Championship, Continental Championship, or World Championship.
9v3) Dual Rounds must have the same format, cutoff, and time limit.
9v4) The competitor's ranking in Dual Rounds is based on the better result of either round.
9v4a) The results of both rounds are recorded and are eligible for the WCA world rankings (see Regulation 9i) and regional records (see Regulation 9i1).
9v5) No competitors are eliminated between rounds during Dual Rounds.
9v5a) Competitors with no results in the first round or results of only DNF and/or DNS in the first round are eligible to advance to the second round.
