All Competitors

  • The main event of this competition is 3x3.
  • Please try and be present 15-30 minutes before any events you are competing in to ensure that you are on time and ready to compete.
  • Volunteers for judging and running would be greatly appreciated! Competitors are expected to judge in the group after they compete in any given event. A tutorial for judging and running will be given during the New Competitor Tutorial in the morning.
  • If you have any questions throughout the day, don't hesitate to ask the delegate and/or organizers. They are happy to answer any questions and can usually be found in the competitor area. # New Competitors For those of you new to cubing, WELCOME!

We wanted to let you know this event is perfectly fine for cubers of any age and experience. We just ask you know a couple things before coming to compete:

First, please be familiar with the WCA Regulations, found here:

This video will explain most of what any cuber competing for the first time will need to know:

If you have any questions after this video, we will be having a new competitor tutorial, Saturday morning of the competition. That would be the perfect time to ask those questions and clear up any confusion.

If you are stoked to compete and ready to sign up, head over to the registration tab, click register, and fill out the information it asks for. This will help you get set up the WCA's system and one step closer to your first official solve!

Q&A:

Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?

A: YES! You are responsible for your own hardware in order to compete. So don't forget to bring your main cubes with you.

Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?

A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you though, everyone can and should cube!

Q: What is the competition like?

A: Competitions are usually a large room with a bunch of tables where nerds like us get to sit and discuss our favorite thing: Cubes! Of course in addition there is competing, which will occupy one side of the competition hall, where you will see all the timers, competitors, and staffers of the competition. Most competitions also have a break for lunch which can be found on the schedule. The competing is split up into groups, as to better organize who competes when (Information on groups will be sent out a couple weeks prior to the competition)

Q: How do I find results?

A: All results are posted on the WCA page a couple of days after the competition finishes. However, for the day of competing, go to Cubecomps.com to find information about current events. This is also where you will find information about 2nd and 3rd rounds of events.

Q: Why am I not on the registration list yet?

A: Make sure you pay your registration fee in order to be automatically placed on the registered list, which will also guarantee you a spot in the competition. If payment may be any issue, or you are not sure if you can attend, use the contact button to talk to us, and see if we can work out another payment strategy, or have you pay on arrival at the compeition. No matter what you situation may be however, please register online. It is much easier for us to have you register now and pay later, then to have to input information at another time.

Q: Are there age divisions?

A: Nope! All competitors compete together.

Q: Can I have fun at this event?

A: HECK YES! Cubing is amazing, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the competition!

Without judges, running the competition isn’t possible! We will have a judge and competitor tutorial before Pyraminx Round 1 begins. Like Mishawaka Summer 2019, we will be doing a raffle for cubes as an incentive for judging. For each full heat you judge, you will receive a raffle ticket that will be used to give away some fun prizes (will be announced later). Winners will be announced periodically throughout the day. Must be present to win.

TBA

We are very grateful to have TheCubicle as the sponsor of this competition! They will be providing gift cards for 1st/2nd/3rd place to their online store, TheCubicle.com.

Staff members are expected to help out for most of the competition by scrambling/running/judging/data entry. In return, lunch will be provided and registration will be refunded (after the competition, if they do a good job). Staffing at competitions is a great way to learn how competitions run, and we would recommend staffing at least once if you’re thinking about organizing one yourself. If you’re interested in staffing at this competition, please fill out the form below! Applicants will be notified whether they made it on staff when registration closes.
Application
*staff members are ineligible to earn tickets for the raffle prizes.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
