Information

The Daffodil and Seahorse classrooms have limited space and seating, each competitor can bring at most 1 guest in order to maintain safety and the pace of the competition. This will be strictly enforced to ensure we can provide a pleasant experience to all competitors. Guests are welcome to sit outside the classroom at the "Living Room" area. This area is a Public Open Space, please keep your belongings with you at all times.

Registration Process

Before You Register
All prospective registrants need a WCA account. New competitors can create their own WCA account by clicking here and entering the required information.

How to Register Online
Prospective competitors register by:
1. Signing into their WCA account;
2. Clicking "Register" on the left side of this webpage, selecting the events they would like to compete in, and submitting their registration;
3. This competition is free to enter - there is no registration fee.

The competitor limit for this competition is 40. The list of approved competitors can be found by clicking "Competitors" on the left side of this webpage. If there are already 40 competitors on that list, it means the competition is full, and any future registrants will be placed on the waitlist.

Competitors MUST register online in order to compete. No at-the-door registrations will be accepted.

Any requested changes to registration before Friday, September 5, 2025 at 8:00 PM EDT. will be honored. Your registration is not complete until your name shows up on the list.

Waitlist Information
We will be keeping a waitlist for this competition. To secure a place on the waitlist once 40 competitors have register. If a competitor emails us to drop out before Friday, September 5, 2025 at 8:00 PM EDT. you will be notified if you are the next competitor on the waitlist. After that deadline, all remaining competitors on the waitlist will be emailed letting them know they did not get off the waitlist.

For First-Time Competitors

All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. This video gives a basic overview of the rules.

For All Competitors

When you arrive, you will receive a card with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you will also have judging/scrambling assignments on your card. Every competitor is expected to help out during the event(s) they are registered for. The card will look like the following:

If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.

FAQ

Do I use my own cube?
Yes, you will need to bring your own for each puzzle you're competing in.

How old do I have to be to compete?
Our events are competitors of all ages. Most competitors are between 10 and 16 years old, though we often have competitors as young as 7, and as old as 50+, so regardless of your age, you won't be out of place!

Where are results posted?
During the competition, we'll be posting live results on WCA Live.

When should I arrive?
Take a look at the "Schedule" tab. If this is your first competition, we recommend arriving before the New Competitor Tutorial begins. You can leave after your last event ends, or you are welcome to stay as long as you'd like.

What if I have more questions?
You can use the "Contact" link on the "General info" tab to reach the organizers and WCA Delegates. During the competition, feel free to ask any of us if you have any questions.

Pier 57 is on 15th Street in Hudson River Park, between Little Island and Chelsea Piers. Access is from the West Side Highway.

The competition is taking place in the Seahorse/Daffodil rooms (Community Classrooms) in the back of the pier. Please see this map as a reference:

By Public Transit:

It is recommended to use public transit to reach the venue.
By Subway: Take the A, C, E, or L train to the 14th Street (8th Avenue) station. Walk west to West Side Highway and 15th Street.
By Bus (From North/East/South): Take the M14, M20, or M11 bus to 14th Street. Walk west to the West Side Highway.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced (see Regulation A1a2).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
