*Banana Cube finals will be held in a head-to-head format. It will be a bit different from "standard" head-to-head finals, and we will explain the exact procedures before the start of the round. If you were at GA Cubers Go Bananas 2024, these finals will be nearly identical, but with 2 additional spots.
**Three-Person TeamBLD: Competitors will sign up as a team of three people. All three must fill out the sign-up form to indicate their team. Read the following carefully before signing up:
During an attempt, there will be three roles: the solver, the caller, and the viewer.
The solver is the only person allowed to touch the cube.
The caller is the only person allowed to speak. Unlike standard TeamBLD, the solver is not allowed to say anything during the attempt.
The viewer is the only person allowed to see the puzzle. This means that both the solver and the caller will be blindfolded.
In order to solve the cube, your team will need to communicate creatively. The viewer will see the cube and must communicate moves nonverbally to the caller, who then tells those moves to the solver.
Using other non-verbal sounds to bypass the no-speaking restrictions is not allowed. The intention is that the communication must go through the caller. Allowing the viewer to communicate using sounds would make the caller redundant. If you're unsure, ask the organizers whether your strategy would be permitted.
Non-electronic aids (including, but not limited to, cubes) may be used by the viewer and caller to communicate, as long as they do not produce significant sound.
Your team will do three attempts. Each team member must perform each role once, switching between attempts. Your result will be the average of the two better attempts, eliminating the worst attempt.
Three-Person TeamBLD results will not be recorded on Cubing Contests; we will use a spreadsheet for results.
Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Cutoff
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
