There is a competitor limit of 60 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $28 (Australian Dollar).
The registration fee has to be paid through Stripe here once registered.
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 100% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until .
We encourage everyone to register for the events they want to compete in via your online registration, however you may add events to your registration up until the event has started.
On the spot registrations will be accepted if there are remaining spots available, with a base registration fee of $28 (Australian Dollar).
Any spectator can attend for free.
Payment:
Upon registering you will receive an email stating “Registration Pending: FTOpen Cranbourne 2027”. This does NOT mean that you are on the registration list. Competitors will not be approved until payment has been made.
Please ensure you have paid the registration fees via Stripe on the register page. Your registration is not complete and will not be processed until you have paid the $28 registration fee. Contact the organisational team if you encounter an issue.
Waiting List:
- Once the competitor limit of 30 per event has filled, the waiting list will be opened.
- The maximum theoretical competitor limit is 60.
- You must pay the $28 registration fee to be added to the waiting list.
- New registrations will be added to a waitlist and sorted in the order of payment.
- Waitlisted competitors will only be added to the competition if an existing competitors withdraws.
- All competitors still on the waiting list after 30/12/2026 will be removed and provided with a full refund.
- You may enquire about your position on the waiting list by contacting the organisational team.
Deleting Registration/Refunds:
- If you can no longer make the competition you may request a refund.
- To receive a full refund you must contact the organisational team by 30/12/2026.
- Withdrawing enables us to maximise attendance and for competitors on the waiting list to attend.
Whilst spectating is free, please note that the only events at this competition are FTO (A new event as of Jan 2 2027) and Fewest Moves (Competitors are given a scramble and an hour to come up with the shortest solution). These events may not be the 3x3 cube spectator experience you are expecting.
If you are looking for a more typical competition, consider spectating (or competing at) Melbourne Summer 2027 instead. (This competition will be announced in the coming month or so, and will occur in late January).

Q. How old do I have to be to compete?
Anyone can compete at any age! We encourage anyone who likes FTO or Fewest Moves to register. If you are looking for a more typical competition, consider Melbourne Summer 2027 instead. (This competition will be announced in the coming month or so, and will occur in late January).
Q. Do children need to have adult supervision?
YES. Adult supervision of children is required at ALL times. The WCA Delegates and Organisers are very busy running the competition and cannot be responsible for supervising children.
Q. How fast do I have to be to compete?
To compete you only need to know how to solve the cube! Please check the events tab for information in time limits for each event. Note there is no 3x3 speedsolving at this competition.
Q. How can I prepare before the competition day?
Before attending you should have read and understood the WCA regulations. Here is condensed version of the competitor tutorial. . You may also like to watch this helpful competitor guide.
Q. What do I need to bring?
You need to bring a puzzle for each event you are signed up to compete in - make sure they are allowed per the WCA regulations. We also recommend you bring a water bottle. All timing equipment is provided by Speedcubing Australia.
Q. How do I find out if I've progressed to the second round?
Results will be uploaded through the day onto Integrated Live Results. After all the results of a round have been entered, you can see if you are in the following round.

After official results are posted after the competitions you will receive an email with information on your WCA ID.
Q: I lost a puzzle at the competition, what should I do?
There are hundreds of puzzles at these events, make sure to keep yours together so you don't lose them! Keeping them in a bag and looking after it at all times is recommended. If you do lose a puzzle (or anything else), please speak to us at the event or contact the organisational team, it is possible someone has handed it in to us.

Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced across rounds (see Regulation A1a2).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
Advancement Condition
The number of competitors shown as advancing to the next round is the planned maximum. The actual number may be lower if there are fewer competitors than expected, or if there are ties at the boundary.
