COMPETITION FORMAT ANNOUNCEMENT: DUAL ROUNDS
We would like to inform all competitors that this competition will be implementing the newly introduced Dual Rounds format for 3x3x3 Fewest Moves.
Disclaimer: This competition will run Dual Rounds unless there will be serious technical difficulties.
WHAT IS DUAL ROUNDS?
Dual Rounds consist of two connected consecutive rounds with 100% progression between them. This means that all competitors from Round 1 will automatically proceed to Round 2, regardless of their results in the first round, including DNF, DNS, or no results.
For Dual Rounds, competitor rankings will be determined using each competitor’s best result across the two rounds.
Example:
• Round 1 Average: 33.33
• Round 2 Average: 26.67
The competitor’s counted result will be 26.67.
These best results will be used for:
🏅 Final placements and podium rankings
➡️ Advancement to subsequent rounds, if applicable (NOT applicable in this competition)
Please note that:
• Dual Rounds may only be used for the 1st and 2nd rounds of an event
• The format still counts as two official rounds under WCA Regulations
• The goal of this format is to provide competitors with additional opportunities to achieve stronger results
We encourage all competitors to familiarize themselves with this format before the competition.
Time limit
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
Format
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
Advancement Condition
The number of competitors shown as advancing to the next round is the planned maximum. The actual number may be lower if there are fewer competitors than expected, or if there are ties at the boundary.
