Competitors not interested in blindfolded events should consider registering for the other competition in this series: Everything in Evanston B.

This competition is part of the Everything in Evanston 2023 Competition Series. Other competitions in this Series are: Note: You can submit a registration for all competitions in a Series, but only one of those registrations can be confirmed and accepted. You will only be allowed to compete in one of the Series competitions!
There is a competitor limit of 30 competitors.
The base registration fee for this competition is $20 (United States Dollar).
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 80% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until .
We encourage everyone to register for the events they want to compete in via your online registration, however you may add events to your registration up until the event has started.
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.


Each competitor may bring at most one guest. By registering for any of this competition's afternoon events, you agree to attend for the entire afternoon.

Schedule

  • Blindfolded events will be held before lunch; all other events will be held after lunch.
  • For the events after lunch, the competition will be divided into two groups. Due to the format of this competition, you must be present for both groups and help out for the group you are not competing in. Failure to attend both groups will result in disqualification from the competition and/or being reported to the WCA Disciplinary Committee.
  • All competitors should attend the competitor tutorial at noon, where we will discuss details specific to this competition.
  • If the second group finishes at 5:15 p.m. or earlier, 3x3 finals will be held (top 8).
  • If the second group finishes at 5:00 p.m. or earlier, finals will be held for the most popular event other than 3x3 (top 8).

Competing

  • In the morning, competitors will have a combined time limit of 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete solves in the following events: 3x3 Bliindfolded, 4x4 Blindfolded, and 5x5 Blindfolded.
  • In the afternoon, competitors will have a combined time limit of 35 minutes to complete solves in the following events: 2x2-7x7, 3x3 One-Handed, Clock, Megaminx, Pyraminx, Skewb, and Square-1.
  • If you reach the cumulative time limit during a solve, the judge will stop you and the result will be DNF. The remaining solves in the event will be recorded as DNS (Did Not Start).
  • Once you begin solves in an event, you must complete the average or DNS the remaining solves before moving onto another event. Exception: For 4x4 Blindfolded and 5x5 Blindfolded, competitors may do their solves in any order.
  • A spreadsheet will be emailed to all competitors to keep track of the total time you have remaining.
  • If you think your solve will take longer than 8 minutes, please inform the judge before starting. When you start the Stackmat timer, the judge will start the stopwatch at the same time. This will allow your time to be retrieved from the stopwatch in case it exceeds 10 minutes.

Registration

  • This competition is in series with Everything in Evanston B. If you register for both, only the first registration will be accepted unless you notify us otherwise.
  • Registrations will be accepted in the order that they are paid.
  • Waitlisting for both competitions at the same time is allowed; if you do, please write your preferred competition in the registration comments.
  • Events may be added or removed from your registration by contacting the organization team.
  • If you do not plan to compete in blindfolded events, consider signing up for the Everything in Evanston B scheduled for the next day (Sunday).

FAQ:
Who can compete?
Everyone is welcome to compete. All you need to do is register for the event.

Is there a competitor limit?
Yes, it is 30 competitors. You just need to make sure to register before the registration deadline.

How do I register?
Click on the registration tab on the competition website and follow the instructions.

Where can I find my WCA ID?
If you have never competed before, you do not have a WCA ID. You will automatically be assigned one when the results for your first competition are posted. If you have competed before, you can find your WCA ID and profile by searching for yourself on the WCA website.

Do spectators have to pay to attend?
Nope! Spectators may attend free of charge. However we will have a limit of how many spectators/guests may be in the room at one time.

I can only attend for part of the competition. Can I do my solves early?
Unfortunately, no. In order to keep the competition running smoothly, we have to stay on schedule.

When do I need to show up?
Look at the schedule on the competition website. You must be present and ready to compete during all events that you are registered for. The schedule is subject to change. We recommend coming about 15-30 minutes before the start of your first event.

Where can I see the results for the competition?
During the competition, live results will be posted on WCA Live. These results are unofficial. A week or so after the competition, official results will be posted on the WCA website.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced across rounds (see Guideline A1a2++).

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
