All Competitors

  • Please try to arrive at least 30 minutes early for the events you are competing in to ensure that you are on time for that event.
  • We will be using regulation 9p3).This means that if you do not arrive to compete by the time the event is scheduled to start, your spot may be given up the next competitor in the rankings.
  • We will need volunteer help from competitors and their parents. Judging is a very simple task and any staff member can teach anyone at any time. In addition, you can read this document before coming to the competition to learn about the procedures for competing and judging. It's an excellent way to make the time fly by!
  • Your delegate for this competition is Jacob Ambrose and your organizer is Raymond Goslow. Ask them if you have any questions throughout the day!

New Competitors

  • For a quick introduction to how to compete you can watch Kit Clement's WCA Competitor Tutorial video and read the WCA Competition Tutorial document.
  • Please be familiar with all of WCA's regulations, most importantly Article A. If you have any questions about the regulations, feel free to ask a delegate.
  • In each event we will have rounds. The top competitors will advance to . After a round is completed, results will be entered into WCA Live. Your name will be highlighted if you made it to the next round.
  • Each round will be divided into groups to help the competition run efficiently. We will call the groups in order (Group 1, Group 2, etc.), along with a last call during the final group. You will bring your puzzle up and wait in the competitor waiting area as soon as your group is called. You may be denied the ability to compete if you do not come up by the last call.

Location:
North Cobb Regional Library
3535 Old 41 Highway
Kennesaw, GA 30144

IMPORTANT: This facility opened in September 2019; therefore, it may be missing from some mapping/GPS databases. Although the address is on Old 41 Highway, there is no entrance to the parking lot from that road. Instead, turn from Blue Springs Rd onto Quick Water Landing, then take the first right to reach the parking lot.

Room Details: The competition will take place in the library's community room, which is across the hall from the main sliding doors of the library. Access to the rest of the building will be restricted before 10AM and after 5PM, but bathrooms will be available for the whole day.

Parking: There is ample free parking available at the venue. The library would appreciate it if you park farther away from the building in order to leave space for people using the library to park closer.

Lunch: Lunch will not be provided at the venue. There are numerous nearby restaurants in downtown Kennesaw, downtown Acworth, and on Cobb Parkway. You are permitted to bring your lunch into the community room or onto the outside patio, but food must not be taken anywhere else in the library.

Additional Activities: The library will be holding additional activities throughout the day related to the competition: a scavenger hunt, math and science actitivities for little kids, etc. More details TBA.

This competition will be sponsored by TheCubicle.com! They will provide gift card codes for the top three cubers in each event.

Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: YES! You are responsible for providing your own hardware in order to compete.

Q: What are some examples of puzzles that are not allowed?
A: Electronic cubes (such as Giiker or Gan360i), cubes with carbon fiber stickers, cubes with significantly damaged stickers, faces missing stickers (note: completely stickerless cubes are allowed), cubes missing pieces. Please see Article 3 of the regulations for more details.

Q: What is the normal age of competitors at these events?
A: All ages are welcome, but in general competitors are between 10 and 20 years old. Don't let this stop you, though: everyone can and should cube!

Q: What is a competition like?
A: Competitions are a bunch of tables where nerds like us get to sit and discuss our favorite thing: CUBES! Of course, there is also competing, which will occupy one side of the competition room, where you will see lots of timers flickering with contestants' new personal bests. There will be a break for lunch, and the competitors is split up into groups to organize who competes at what time. (Check the Competitor Information tab and listen at the competition for more info on this.)

Q: How do I find results?
A: All results will be posted on the competition's WCA page a couple of days after the competition finishes. However, on the day of the competition, go to WCA Live to find information about current events. This is also where you will find information about 2nd and 3rd rounds of events.

Q: Why am I not on the competitor list yet? I already registered!
A: Allow up to 48 hours for your name to appear on the competitor list. Registrations have to be approved manually. Make sure you have paid the registration fee. Additionally, you must pay if you are registering for the waiting list. If payment may be an issue, or you are not sure if you can attend, use the contact button to talk to us.

Q: Are there age divisions?
A: Nope! All competitors compete in the same group.

Q: Can I have fun at this event?
A: HECK YES! Cubing is amazing, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the competition!
