Registration Process

Before You Register
All prospective registrants need a WCA account. New competitors can create their own WCA account by clicking here and entering the required information.

How to Register Online
Prospective competitors register by:
1. Signing into their WCA account;
2. Clicking "Register" on the left side of this webpage, selecting the events they would like to compete in, and submitting their registration;
3. Paying the registration fee of $30. (The registration fee is the same regardless of how many events are selected.) Your registration is not complete until you have paid the registration fee.
Note: Please do not bring more than 1 guest to this competition, as space is limited.

The competitor limit for this competition is 40. The list of approved competitors can be found by clicking "Competitors" on the left side of this webpage. If there are already 40 competitors on that list, it means the competition is full, and any future registrants will be placed on the waitlist.

Any requested changes to registration before Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 7:00 PM EDT will be honored. Your registration is not complete until your name shows up on the list.

How to Pay for Registration Online
Payment is processed through Stripe. Click on the "Register" tab on the left side of the webpage to register and pay all in one place! You can start the payment process by clicking "Pay your fees with card."

Refunds
Approved competitors who cancel their registration before Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 7:00 PM EDT are eligible for a refund for 90% of their registration cost. After this date, no refund requests will be honored. Attempting to file a chargeback for the registration fee will lead to being blacklisted from future WCA events.

Waitlist Information
We will be keeping a waitlist for this competition. To secure a place on the waitlist once competitors have paid, simply pay the registration fee. If a competitor emails us to drop out before Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 7:00 PM EDT, you will be notified if you are the next competitor on the waitlist. After that deadline, all remaining competitors on the waitlist will be emailed letting them know they did not get off the waitlist and will be fully refunded.

FAQ

Who can compete?
Everyone is welcome to compete. All you need to do is register for the event.

Is there a competitor limit?
Yes, it is 40 competitors. You just need to make sure to register before the registration deadline.

How do I register?
Click on the registration tab on the competition website and follow the instructions.

Where can I find my WCA ID?
If you have never competed before, you do not have a WCA ID. You will automatically be assigned one when the results for your first competition are posted. If you have competed before, you can find your WCA ID and profile by searching for yourself on the WCA website.

Do spectators have to pay to attend?
Nope! Spectators may attend free of charge. However we will have a limit of how many spectators/guests may be in the room at one time.

This is my first competition. What do I need to know?
There is a lot of good information available in the "Competitor Information - MUST READ" tab.

I can only attend for part of the competition. Can I do my solves early?
Unfortunately, no. In order to keep the competition running smoothly, we have to stay on schedule.

When do I need to show up?
Look at the schedule on the competition website. You must be present and ready to compete during all events that you are registered for. The schedule is subject to change. We recommend coming about 15-30 minutes before the start of your first event.

Where can I see the results for the competition?
During the competition, live results will be posted on WCA Live. These results are unofficial. A week or so after the competition, official results will be posted on the WCA website.

ALL COMPETITORS MUST READ THIS TAB BEFORE REGISTERING

For First-Time Competitors

All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. This video gives a fun overview of the rules.

In addition, please read this document before coming to the competition.
This document is also useful: Competing, Judging, and Running Tutorial

Finally, please be familiar with how to judge at a cubing competition. All competitors will be required to judge in at least one of the events they are competing in. This video gives a basic overview of how to judge, and does include more up-to-date information.

For All Competitors

Before you arrive, you will recieve an email with competition information including your groups for the competition. This could be displayed in one of two ways, either as a pdf or as a website link to competitiongroups.com.
If you recieve a pdf, it will contain multiple competitor cards. Find the card with your name on it, and it will contain personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event, along with judging/scrambling assignments. Every competitor is expected to help out during the event(s) they are registered for. The card will look similar to the following:

If you recieve a website link to competitiongroups.com, click on the link (or head to the Groups tab on this website) and login to your WCA account. Then, find the competition and scroll to your name. Your list of groups will look similar to the following:

If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.

Entrance:
The best way to enter the Campus Center is through the main entrance off of N Broadway. Room 131 is directly to the right after entering the building.

Room 131 is the Pioneer Room

Groups for this competition can be found here.

NOTE: Everyone competing in 5x5/6x6/7x7 is expected to be at the competition for both groups to help out.

Live results are available on WCA Live.

This competition is sponsored by SpeedCubeShop!

Staff applications are now closed.

Staff will be provided with lunch each day they are staffing.

Staff will also have their registration fees partially refunded, provided that income for the competition is high enough to support doing so.
Those who staff both days will receive double the refund.

There will be a cumulative time limit of 40 minutes for round 1 of megaminx, 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7.

  • You may compete in these events in an order of your choosing.
  • Once you start an event, you must complete it before moving on to another event. This means either finishing all the solves for the event or choosing to DNS any remaning solves.
  • The cumulative time limit only includes time spent solving, not waiting/inspecting/anything else.
  • If you reach the cumulative time limit during a solve, you will be stopped and the solve will be recorded as a DNF.
  • There is an additional 10 minute time limit for a single solve, and a 10 minute cutoff for 6x6 and 7x7 and a 5 minute cutoff for 5x5 and megaminx which must be met in order to be eligible to complete an average in those events.

Competitors will be split into two groups. Group 1 will compete in all four events, there will be a short break for warming up, then group 2 will compete in all four events. Regardless of which group you are in, everyone who is competing in megaminx, 5x5, 6x6, or 7x7 MUST be present during BOTH groups to help judge. Fulfillment of staffing assignments is a requirement for being allowed to compete.

This competition has on-the-spot registration enabled. This means that you may register the day of the competition by speaking to a delegate and paying the registration fee.

We request cash or venmo payments for the registration fee ($30).

If you plan on registering on-site, please arrive no later than 30 minutes before the first event you are registering for begin in order to give the organization team enough time to prepare scorecards for you.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced across rounds (see Guideline A1a2++).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
