WDC Monthly Digest - May & June 2019

Announced by Lorenzo Vigani Poli on

Dear WCA Community,

Here you can find some noteworthy updates about the activity of the Disciplinary Committee over the months of May and June 2019.

In the first six months of 2019, the WDC has opened more investigations than in 2018 as a whole.

The Committee is currently actively working on 11 cases. Some of these cases are straightforward but the majority are more complex and require more time and effort to reach a proper conclusion. For example, the WDC is currently investigating a case that greatly affects the Ukrainian community and some more time is needed to properly cover all of the different aspects of this particular case.

The aforementioned increment in the number of investigations is partially due to the fact that the WDC has to investigate violations of the Code of Ethics if the accused individual is not WCA Staff. Another reason is surely represented by a more careful eye from WCA Staff and Registered Speedcubers who promptly contact the WDC if they witness something odd. We would like to thank everyone who contacts us providing precise information and context. The more accurate a reporting is, the quicker the investigation will be.

To conclude, we would like to remind everyone to make sure they fully understand the WCA Regulations and competition procedures. If you have any questions or are unsure about how to do something, please do not hesitate to ask the Delegate(s) of the competition. In addition, if you think the competition results are being compromised in any way or see suspicious behavior, find the nearest delegate immediately and report the incident.

Thank you all for your help in supporting the WCA Spirit and Mission.
