A competitor began their 3x3x3 Multi-blind attempt without a judge present, assuming they could start with a stackmat timer due to the use of floating judges. Realizing their mistake, the competitor asked if their attempt should be a DNF. When the delegate told them that this was the case they stopped their attempt. After reconsideration however, the delegates provided a provisional extra attempt.
The WRC clarified that starting a blindfolded attempt without a judge violates regulation B2a, which states that a judge must be present at the start of each attempt. Furthermore, a stopwatch should have been started as required by Regulation A1b since the time limit was over 10 minutes. Since the competitor's actions prevented proper judging, the WRC ruled that the original attempt should be disqualified (DNF).
