Incident: Competitor thought timer malfunctioned after getting second DNF for timer start

A competitor called a delegate over after getting a second DNF because the timer did not start. This was a very experienced competitor, and had no explanation as to why this happened. The competitor believed they held their hands on the timer long enough, but the judge was unsure if the green starting light was visible or not.
The delegates tested the timers that were used on the two DNF attempts and had no issues with them, and nobody else complained about the timers for the rest of the competition. Videos of the solves were provided for analysis.
The WRC reviewed the information and videos and concluded that the DNFs should be kept. The competitor had a tendency of starting the timer quite fast (even on successful starts), and on the DNF attempts, their hands were held on the timer for a bit less time, justifying why the timer did not start. Additionally, since there were no other complaints about the timer during the competition, it is very likely that the competitor simply did not start the timer correctly. As a result, both attempts remained as DNFs.
