Incident: Pyraminx round affected by a great amount of misscrambles

Status: Resolved

NZSouthIslandChampionship2024

Incident description and resolution:

After a competition had ended, a delegate received messages from two of the pyraminx solvers indicating that their scrambles for the first round of pyraminx were almost entirely wrong. Between the two competitors, only 3 out of 10 scrambles they received were correct, with the remaining being off by a tip (both direction and quantity) or scrambled in the wrong orientation.

The WRC made the tough decision to remove the affected Pyraminx round. Given the high misscramble rate and the very limited videographic evidence available to check, ensuring that scrambles were equal in difficulty for all competitors would be nearly impossible. As a result, the decision was to remove the affected round, which would ultimately mean removing all rounds of Pyraminx.
