Hi I wish to know wether there have been any official competitions anywhere which were supervised by a delegate from some other country due to nonavailability of the delegate for the region of competition? The reason for the query being, I wish to conduct an official cubing competition Mumbai, India. The copetition has been organised for the past two years as well. But WCA delegate for India is unable to attend the same this year due to some reason. So i have started contacting delegates from other countries. Just want to make sure I am not shooting in dark. Thank you. Ankita You turn it and it will twist you - Erno Rubik

Yes. Definitely. It's not something unusual to call a delegate from another country. Check the the closest ones to your country and just ask them whether it's possible.

Hi, So i found delegates from nearby countries and started contacting them. I have got a positive reply from a delegate from Indonesia. My concern now is that I am unaware how things work in other countries. Are we supposed to pay the delegate any specific amount for supervising the competition? Thank you Ankita.

The work as a WCA Delegate is strictly volunteering work and you are not supposed to pay the delegate to delegate a competition. I have never been paid anything for delegating a competition, and I do not know of any other delegate that has been paid. Furthermore, the WCA Board is not paid anything for all they are doing for the community. However, it could be justified that the competition organiser covers some of the expenses of the WCA Delegate, in particular if he or she needs to travel far. But such things are rare exceptions. We are quite a few WCA delegates in South-East Asia, and I am sure you will find at least one that can help you. Good luck with your competition! /Anders

For example, I bring all the equipment. I like to be able to collect some money to pay for things as they break. Even though nothing may break during the competition, it's wear and tear that's spread over various competitions.

Hi, Thanks all of you for posting your replies and clearing my confusion. I am glad to inform everyone that Mr. Ardianto Satriawan from Indonesia will be the delegate for our competition. Also the competition has been announced on WCA and hence is official now :) http://worldcubeassociation.org/results ... aiOpen2012 Ankita.
