Video evidence

Hello I would like to discuss about the rule: [quote:2f02uo6y]11f) The main judge and WCA delegate must not support their decisions with video or photograph analysis.[/quote:2f02uo6y] In a recent competition, a time was written 3.06 on the paper, and the competitor told the organiser and the WCA delegate that he thought the time was 3.09. A video has been made of the solve and showed clearly that the time was 3.09. I know the rule, and this is a minor issue, but I feel uncomfortable about the fact that a time inside the official results is probably wrong. Here is my question: why the delegate doesn't have the right to use video evidence ?

Tyson said this on discussion by e-mail a while ago. [quote:3p8chg2w]That's to take the power away from delegates, and to move it to the board. Since we want video evidence things to be under more scrutiny.[/quote:3p8chg2w]

So is it possible to send video to board members so that the competitor could get the deserved score ?

Hi ! We still hope to have an answer from someone who is member of the WCA board about this :
I know the rule, and this is a minor issue, but I feel uncomfortable about the fact that a time inside the official results is probably wrong. [/quote:79ixkldo]
So is it possible to send video to board members so that the competitor could get the deserved score ?[/quote:79ixkldo] I'm also curious about everyone's opinion on that regulation point and the mistakes that could happened during competition when a juge writes the time. And what about other things that could be reveal wrong later with a video ? Thanks !

Hi Clément, Taking power of video evidence away from the delegate and moving it to the board was a rule we put in place in order to protect the delegates, and to avoid having to review video evidence for every small dispute. Requiring the board examine these cases helps is filter out the more important cases. With that being said, I have reviewed the videos and made the following changes: Naoned Open 2011 (France) - Pyraminx, final round Valentin Doussin, first solve updated from 3.06 seconds to new time -> 3.09 seconds No place changes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crA8EcmbP0s Naoned Open 2011 (France) - Megaminx, combined final round Hippolyte Moreau, fifth solve updated from 1:29.97 to new time -> 1:26.97 2008MORE02 moved to first place, 2008VIRO01 moved to second place http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVIZwPdRsZw
