Magic solved state clarification

I was looking at the magic solved state again today and finally seem to get it. I've made some pictures of the possible penalties: http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/673/img10019i.jpg (+2) http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/9325/img10020.jpg (+2) http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/7895/img10021h.jpg (DNF) http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/1438/img10022u.jpg (DNF) http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/807/img10023.jpg (DNF) Is that all correct? If so, then why picture 5 is a DNF and picture 1 is +2? Or even worse, picture 5 x picture 2. The last one looks much more "solved" than the second. It's a DNF because it's 3 pairs of tiles instead of 2 as the rules allow. Actually, the rules say "If one or two pairs...". Well, having just one pair of "wrong" tiles is impossible. So the rule should be rewritten, I think. (This last part was mentioned, but not covered, here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=828)

Hi Pedro, I can't see all the pictures you've uploaded. It says "Domain unregistered...". Could you upload them in somewhere else? -- Ardianto

This is my opinion: For IMG10019: Measure angle of tiles to the surface, if it is more than 45 degrees from the floor (equivalent to 135 degrees from connecting tiles) then +2, if not, it's solved. I have simple trick to measure an angle more or less than 45 degrees. Take small sheet of paper, and flip it like this: [img:gl90j8iv]http://api.ning.com/files/8aur0Xb5HthbYmNDHPhMRy-Z1GQpwCoAvuCPevyvW-uNewy7fQVmU*KuHeeKuh9kd3YDG5xk5PvYqfBsOqkoI0OfW5ndcak3/2011102202.00.16.jpg?width=750[/img:gl90j8iv] compare the elevation to the flipped paper (45 degrees). For IMG10020: Clearly it is +2. For IMG10021: Again, measure the elevated tiles. if one of them more than 45 degrees, then +2, if both of them more than 45 degree, DNF, otherwise it's solved. For IMG10022: I agree that's DNF For IMG10023: It is +2.

Well, the last one is a DNF, since the regs say: If one or two pairs of connecting tiles have a smaller angle with each other, and the puzzle is otherwise solved, then the puzzle is considered solved, with a penalty of 2 seconds. In all other cases the result is DNF. In that case, 3 pairs of connecting tiles have a smaller angle than 135 degrees. My point is that it should be a +2, but as the rules are written right now, it would be a DNF.
