I don't quite know where to put this, since it's not really a regulation issue, but about making something just as official. I would like to suggest adopting official icons/images for all official events. This way, each event could be identified with a visual representation, which can be more appealing, gives more options for presenting lists of events (say, on a website), can be put on medals/certificates, etc. In my style of running competitions, I try to keep a certain emphasis on what Jeremy F. described well as "branding," something which could be good for the WCA in the form of these icons. Anyhow, I envision something like the [url=http://cubemania.org/puzzles/2/records:3dfl6m8h]icons at cubemania[/url:3dfl6m8h], except redone vector-based/high-resolution. They would then be freely available for any cubing use, so that anyone can use them when presenting information related to particular events. I realize this doesn't need to be official, but I think having them in use for official WCA purposes would lend a strong desirability to use the images whenever appropriate and keep the theme throughout the internet. This isn't really in a hurry, but if people agree this is worth doing, we should decide how. I'd be happy to come up with initial designs myself, but perhaps a contest might be better?

I am all for this as well. It's summer for me, so I have the time and would be more than willing to host an image contest if a board member gives me the go-ahead.
