I am trying to sign up for the cube competition in Austin this weekend, and it is asking me for a WCA number. What is that?
I am trying to sign up for the cube competition in Austin this weekend, and it is asking me for a WCA number. What is that?[/quote:1g4fby3k] That's actually a good question, since it's not explained on the WCA site anywhere. The WCA ID is a string assigned to you after you go to your first competition, of the format yyyyNNNNdd Mine is 2006GARR01, which means I first competed in 2006, my last name begins with the 4 letters GARR (it continues on to the first name for short last names), and I was the 01st GARR in 1006. The WCA ID is used to track your competition progress, since it uniquely identifies you. For example, you can find all my competition history at http://www.worldcubeassociation.org/results/p.php?i=[i:1g4fby3k]2006GARR01[/i:1g4fby3k][/url:1g4fby3k] If you haven't competed, just leave the field blank during registration. Once the competition results are processed, you will be given an ID, and you can find it by searching for your profile here[/url:1g4fby3k].

You don't have a WCA ID yet. The WCA will give you one after your first competition.

Yes, I was meaning, how an organisator can give WCA ID's to the competitors ? do they have the WCA approbation?

As an organiser you don't have to give WCA IDs to competitors. The WCA will create the new IDs while entering the results in the database.

On the registration page, just leave the WCA ID blank.
