2x2x2 Blindfolded

I suggest that a 2x2x2 blindfolded competition is added as an official event. I don't see any problems with it, and since we have 4x4 and 5x5 blindfolded, it would make a nice addition to the collection of blindfolded events. Sincerely, Edward

Agree. Could be a nice, fun, simple event.

Some people can look at a 2x2x2 and see the solution in 15 seconds. As soon as one of those scrambles comes up, the WR would be set for a long time. Blindfolded, one-handed, feet, fewest moves, etc. are all different methods of solving. They apply to the 3x3x3 because that is the most popular puzzle. Blindfold is also for 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 because it's interesting and a challenge, while still being attainable by competitors. Where do you stop these modifications? Should we have Fewest Moves 5x5x5? Blindfold Magic? Feet Megaminx? Many people ask for 2x2x2 BLD because they think that 3x3x3 BLD is impossible. It's not, many people have been able to achieve it. Just work at it and you should be able to succeed.

It was short because he saw a quick solution. You might as well take that away because it was a lucky scramble. And I don't just want it because I can't solve a cube blindfolded. I think that it would be quite cool to watch and would be another event that 3x3x3 blindfolded competitors would enjoy.

However, if you have a blindfolded event where you have the possibility of the "blindfold" aspect not even coming into play, then what's the point? I believe that many of the 2x2x2 solvers have see an entire solution before, it just wasn't as short (or as quickly executed) as Javier's.

That's a good point. It probably wouldn't work as an actual event for that reason, but it could always be an unofficial event at some competitions. -edwardb

Did you get that idea from me? Hahaha. That's cool that you decided to do all of those unofficial events - it will make the competition way more fun. -edward
Did you get that idea from me? Hahaha. [/quote:3ef4xyvr] Partly :) We have been talking about this event earlier, but I did not remember to consider it to be an event at Swedish Open 2008 until you reminded me about it.
That's cool that you decided to do all of those unofficial events - it will make the competition way more fun.[/quote:3ef4xyvr] Thanks. We have a tradition in Sweden of hosting unofficial events (http://www.speedcubing.com/results/). For instance, the 2x2x2 speedcubing event started as an unofficial event at the Swedish Cube Day 2004 before it became an official event. /Anders
