Hard limit... huh?

What is the point of the 4x4 hard limit? It means that any solve over 2:00.00 is considered DNF. NO FREAKING POINT!!!! oh and by the way I'm only so upset because I got 2:01.27 at Yale Spring 2013. Please tell me the point of this. I mean, I see the point of the combined limit, to save time, but this won't change anything.

Ehm... I think you've got some things mixed up. I think you're referring to a limit that is set by the organisers of a particular competition. In the WCA regulations, the default time limit for all events, except FMC and multi-blind is 10 minutes. An organiser can choose to have a lower or higher time limit, but that time limit only applies to that competition. I have to admit though, a 2 minutes hard limit for a 4x4 is quite tough, as you can easily have let's say a 4 minutes hard limit and a 1:40 cutoff. In that way, everybody can finish at least 2 solves and the fast one can do the full average of 5.

4 min and 1:40 sounds good to me. If I'm lucky I can get below that. But 1:30? VERY slim chance.
