Call for Applicants - WDPC Leader (January 2019)

The successful passing of the WCA Data Protection Policy v1.1 established the WCA Data Protection Committee (WDPC) that is in need of a leader. The WCA Data Protection Committee is an Advisory Committee of the WCA which is responsible for all matters relating to Data Protection including, but not limited to the EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and other Data Protection and Privacy regulations worldwide.

The applications are open to everyone; it’s not a requirement to hold a current position in the WCA to be considered. Candidates are expected to fulfill their terms (24 months) and to spend at least 7 hours per week on average to work for the Committee. The qualities expected of candidates are:
- Strong leadership skills
- Good knowledge of Data Protection and GDPR
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills

The application period is opened for candidates to submit their candidacy documents until February 5th, 2019, 23:59 UTC privately to the WCA Board (board@worldcubeassociation.org).

The candidacy documents must be in PDF format, and must include:
1. Brief personal introduction.
2. Summary of activities done for the WCA.
3. Ambitions as the WDPC Leader.

Candidates are additionally asked to send a copy of their applications which can be made public at the end of the application period.

The rights and duties of the WDPC are can be found in the WCA Data Protection Policy v1.1.

Following the application period, the WCA Board will make a selection by voting and will announce the new Leader, after confirmation among Senior Delegates and sitting Committee/Team Leaders by voting, as described in Section 4 of WCA Motion 10.2019.0.
