Information

This Fewest Moves competition is part of CubingZA's South African National Championship for 2025, but is being hosted in several separate venues across the nation. Please see the Locations tab for more information.

Please note that only the 3x3x3 Fewest Moves will be held officially - this is not an ideal competition for newcomers or those who only know speedsolving. Fewest Moves is comprised of 3 separate 1-hour attempts to solve the cube in the lowest possible number of moves. By WCA regulations, the puzzle must be solved in 80 moves or less (excluding rotations) in order to be a valid attempt, otherwise the result will be DNF. If you cannot solve the puzzle in 80 moves or less, please consider not registering for this event.

There will be a short break in between attempts for grading, as well as snack/tea breaks for competitors.

GUESTS

Please note that guests and spectators are NOT welcome at this competition, unless special arrangements have been made prior to the event with the competition organisers (for example, for younger competitors that require a parent or guardian present). The venues are small and there must be absolute silence for the duration of each attempt.

The base registration fee for this competition is R100 (South African Rand).
If your registration is cancelled before you will be refunded 90% of your registration fee.
Registrants on the waiting list may be accepted onto the competitor list until .
No on the spot registrations will be accepted.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Please note that there are FOUR steps you need to take to be entered into this competition:

First-time competitors must create a WCA account if they do not already have one (or their parent/guardian must create one for them).
The competitor must register for the competition using their WCA account.
The competitor must leave a comment on their entry stating which city they will be attending this competition. 4) The competitor must pay the entry fee by purchasing a ticket here: • ### Payment Link <-------Pay Here • If you haven't both registered for the competition (Step 2) and paid for a ticket (Step 4), you will not be able to compete. • After registering for the competition on the WCA website, your registration will be pending. Once the payment through the CubingZA payment portal has been confirmed, your registration will be approved. (Allow up to 48 hours for the organizers to confirm the payment.)

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
