Regulations

15 Puzzle

  • Puzzle is scrambled according to the notation from cstimer/speedsolving, with combinations of R, D, L, and U with 2’s and 3s to represent moving 2 or 3 pieces (for example R2 moves 2 pieces to the right.
  • A +2 would be defined as being 1 move away, where a move means one of the sequences above like R or U3.
  • If one piece would pop out, it should be placed back where it was.
  • If two or more pieces would pop out and the puzzle is reassembled in an unsolvable state, the competitor is allowed to take out the pieces to make it solveable. the competitor is not allowed to manually remove pieces in any other case.

2-Man Mini Guildford Challenge
* Set of puzzles: 3x3x3 Cube; 2x2x2 Cube; 4x4x4 Cube; 5x5x5 Cube; 3x3x3 OH; Clock; Megaminx; Pyraminx; Skewb; Square-1.
* This is a team event, there are 2 members in a team.
* Competitors start solve after timer starts.
* Only the last solver can stop the timer.
Extra information for Relay events

  • Time penalties for the puzzles of the attempt are cumulative.
  • The competitor is allotted a maximum of 20 seconds to inspect the puzzle and start the solve.
    • When 10 seconds of inspection have elapsed, the judge calls "10 SECONDS".
    • When 17 seconds of inspection have elapsed, the judge calls "17 SECONDS".
    • The competitor must start the solve within 20 seconds of the start of the inspection. Penalty: time penalty (+3 seconds).
    • The competitor must start the solve within 23 seconds of the start of the inspection. Penalty: disqualification of the attempt (DNF).

2x2x2 One-Handed

  • Same regulations as 3x3x3 One-Handed

2x2x2-4x4x4 Relay

  • Submit one 2x2 Cube, one 3x3 Cube, and one 4x4 Cube (Standard regulations apply)
  • Competitor may solve the three puzzles in any order.
  • Penalties are added among the puzzles.

    • Example: If one cube is solved and two cubes are one outer layer turn from being solved, the total penalty is +4 seconds.
    • Example: If two cubes are solved and one cube is unsolved, the attempt is a DNF.

3x3x3 Match The Scramble

  • Submit 2 3x3’s (standard 3x3 regulations apply)
  • The competitor may touch the scrambled cube, but may NOT turn it. Penalty: DNF.
  • AUF penalties are a DNF, not a +2. Finished cube must match the scrambled cube exactly.

Corner Helicopter 2x2

  • Standard NxN regulations apply.
  • There are three types of +2 misalignment penalties:
    • a face turn over 45 degrees
    • an edge turn over 90 degrees
    • a corner turn over 60 degrees.
  • Two or more of these is a DNF.
  • Single letter moves in scrambles indicate face turns as they would on a 2x2.
  • Double letter moves in scrambles indicate edge turns by position. (On a solved puzzle, UF means to turn the white-green edge.)
  • Triple letter moves in scrambles indicate corner turns by position. (On a solved puzzle, UFR means to turn the white-green-red corner.)
  • Due to the length of scrambles and time required to solve the puzzle if it is misscrambled, incorrect scrambles are allowed as long as the 2x2 is scrambled correctly.

Face-Turing Octahedron

  • Regulations based on Skewb.

Magic

  • Competitors may do practice solves (for less than a minute) and will start their official attempts when they confirm they are starting official attempts.
  • The judge will not scramble or cover the puzzle. The competitor is responsible for returning the puzzle to its 'scrambled' state.
  • The puzzle must be completely flat on the table.

Master Pyraminx

  • Same regulations as Pyraminx

Mirror Blocks
Regulations based on 3x3x3 Cube.

  • Legality of the puzzle:
    • The puzzle must not have a logo.
    • All sides of the puzzle must be clearly identifiable from each other (i.e. have distinct thicknesses on each side).
    • All stickers / pieces of the puzzle must be the same color with no way of distinguishing one color from another.
  • Scrambling procedures:
    • The scrambler holds the cube with the biggest corner in the up-front-left position and the thickest layer as the up face.
