Information

There is a 90 competitor limit for Northern Neck Winter 2018 on a first come, first serve basis. Registration is $15 and is to be paid online. Unfortunately, we cannot accept registration or payment at the door, and your registration is not complete until payment is complete. Spectators and guests however, can come into the venue for free, and lunch is paid for with your registration fee. If you have a specific food allergy, please email the organizers as soon as possible.

Registration Fee:

There is a 90 competitor limit for Northern Neck Winter 2018, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Registration is $15, must be paid online via Stripe, and is nonrefundable after January 6th. Spectators come in for free. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to allow people to pay in cash at the door. Registration is not final until payment is complete and your name appears on the competitor list.

There is NO AT-THE-DOOR REGISTRATION, NO EXCEPTIONS.

This competition is recognized as an official World Cube Association competition. Therefore, all competitors should be familiar with the WCA regulations. If you are new to competing, you may want to look at CubingUSA's Competitor Tutorial.

Schedule is tenative and subject to change without notice. If we have extra time, then extra rounds of existing events will be added.

** WCA Regulations only allow us to take 75% or less competitors in a round into the next round. The number of competitors advancing to 3x3 Round 2 may be lower than 50, depending on the turnout.

Lunch will be provided in the venue, and is included with your registration fee. If you have any specific food allergies, please email one of the organizers in advance so that we may plan accordingly.

The competition will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 8096 Leedstown Road, Colonial Beach, VA, 22443.

There are several hotels near the competition, including the Riverview Inn in Colonial Beach and more hotels in Dahlgren.

Parking outside the competition in the church lot is completely free.

NEWCOMERS:

There are multiple things a first-timer must know before competing. All newcomers must be familiar with the WCA Regulations before competing. There is a video here for the basic overview of the rules.

ALL COMPETITORS:

Please read this section carefully. Changes in organization have been made modeled off of Hungarian competitions in Europe. When you arrive, you will receive a lanyard with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event. In addition, you will also have staff assignments on your lanyard. Every competitor is expected to help out this competition. The card will look somewhat like the following:

Please note that everyone is expected to help only during the events they are registered for, and everyone need only help for one group per event. If you do not arrive to help during your scheduled event, and there are not enough staff members, we reserve the right to disqualify you from competing.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
