You can find an individual schedule here. Each competitor will be provided with a printed copy of their invididual group assignments at registration. As this is a major competition, we cannot adjust groups. Please arrive on time to your assigned groups.

Throughout the competition we will also need judges, runners and scramblers. All competitiors will need to do some judging at the bare minimum. In any event in which you compete, you are expected to assist with judging. If you don't know how to help please come and ask, there is almost always something for you to do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is the schedule finalised?
The schedule is tentative and is dependent on final registration numbers. Events MAY change days as we get closer to the competition.

Q. How can I change my events?
You must make any change to your registered events by 1/09/2023. You can change your events via the competition registration page.

Q. Can i register for events I don't yet qualify for?
Yes you can register for an event you don't currently qualify for BUT if you don't achieve the qualification standard by 31/08/2023 your registration for that event will be deleted.

Q. What time should I arrive at the competition?
Registration will run all days. You should arrive for registration at least 30 minutes before your first scheduled event. You should be at the venue ready to compete 30 minutes before you are scheduled. Sometimes we run ahead and if you are not available for your group you most likely will not be permitted to join a later group. Please note the schedule is subject to change on the day.

Q. How old do I have to be to compete?
Anyone can compete at any age! We encourage anyone considering to compete to register as it will be a great experience regardless of age.

Q. Do children need to have adult supervision?
YES. Adult supervision of children is required at ALL times. The WCA Delegates and Organisers are very busy running the competition and cannot be responsible for supervising children.

Q. How fast do I have to be to compete?
To compete you only need to know how to solve the cube! Please check the events tab for information in time limits and qualification standards for each event.

Q. What do I need to know before the competition day?
Before attending you should have read and understood the WCA regulations . We also recommend that you watch this helpful competitor guide and read this competition tutorial. You should also know when your events are scheduled throughout the day.

Q. How do I find out if I've progressed to the second round?
Times will be uploaded through the day onto WCA Live. Please allow up to an hour from finishing your solves to them being uploaded. After all the times of a round has been entered, you can see if you are in the following round.

Q. Who can I ask for help on the day?
There will be plenty of Delegates available to help out on the day and they will all be wearing Red shirts, feel free to ask them any questions you may have on the day.

Q. Can I help on the day?
Of course! Throughout the day we will need judges and runners so please see our Delegates to ask how you can best assist.

In the same style as the Rubik’s Relay Cup at Oceanics 2022, the relay is back in the form of the States Cup! In this exciting knockout event, teams of 3 cubers from the same Australian state or territory will battle it out to find which state is fastest in Australia. This crowd favourite event will be run on Saturday Evening.

Teams consisting of 3 cubers from the same Australian state or territory will be selected to participate in the States Cup. Teams from outside of Australia will not be permitted entry into the cup.

Registration for States Cup has now closed.

States Cup Regulations:

  • The competition format is a simple 16 team seeded knockout tournament.
  • Each competitor will solve a single 3x3 cube, one after another. The winning team is determined by the fastest total time.
  • Standard WCA penalties (e.g. misalignment, timer stops/starts) apply for the solves.
  • The members solve one 3x3x3 cube one after the other. Thus, there are 3 timers, 3 cubes and 3 competitors on the table.
  • The second and third timers must be started only when the previous member has finished their solve and has put back the 2 hands on the timers.
  • Inspection time applies to all 3 members at the same time.
  • After 12 seconds of inspection, all 3 members of the same team must release their own cube on the mat, hold their two hands on the timers.
  • The effective start of the 2 teams giving battle is given by the judge or official speaker.
  • When the first solver is cubing, the second and third ones must hold their 2 hands on their timers. Same rule for the third solver while the second is solving their cube. Penalty: DNF.
  • The second and third team members may continue inspecting while their teammate(s) are solving the cube, but must do so with their hands remaining on the timer.
  • The winning team will be the team with the lowest total time.
  • In case of the same total times, the best individual solve is used to declare the winning team.
  • This is an unofficial team event, no results will be stored in the WCA database.
  • As this is an experimental format, the judges for this event may exercise discretion in the case of disagreements and rule interpretation - their decision will be final.

Time limit

If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
A cumulative time limit may be enforced (see Regulation A1a2).

Cutoff

The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).

Format

The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.

Qualification

Qualification times must be set in other WCA competitions in order to compete. Qualification times in 3x3x3 Multi-Blind, 4x4x4 Blindfolded, 5x5x5 Blindfolded must be set before Sep 1, 2023. Qualification times in Clock must be set before Sep 4, 2023.
