Accessing Campus

USC is a closed and gated campus. This means you must present ID at one of the pedestrian entrances to gain entry onto campus. You can only enter campus from certain locations and all vehicular traffic must either enter from the McClintock or McCarthy entrances. You can reference the full details via the map on this link: https://www.usc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Fall-2024-Access-map42.pdf

The organization team will preregister all competitors a couple days before the competition, which will make accessing campus faster as you will receive a QR code via email. All other spectators/guests will be required to show ID at the welcome gates. Minors cannot enter campus by themselves and will need a guardian present. Additional information can be found here: https://www.usc.edu/how-to-access-campus/
Please plan ahead! Give yourself 10-15 minutes extra to get on campus in case of any mishaps. An instructional email will be sent a few days before the competition with full details on how to enter campus.

Parking

It can be difficult to find free street parking in LA, especially near campus on weekends. The McCarthy parking garage on campus is the recommended parking place and campus entrance: it costs $20 per day and is a short (5-10 minute) walk to the competition venue. It is boxed in the below image in red and the path to get to TCC (Tutor Campus Center) is in light blue.

If coming from the west side of the city (via I-10 E), it is recommended to take the Vermont or Hoover exit as the I-10/I-110 intersection is notorious for being confusing and having heavy traffic. If coming via I-110 , you can either take the Adams exit or the Exposition Blvd exit, turn onto Figueroa, then navigate to the the McCarthy entrance.

Public Transit

The Metro E line has several stops along Exposition Boulevard, the closest to the venue is Expo/USC. Note that you will still need to check in at the pedestrian entrance at Trousdale in order to get onto campus. There are some bus options via Vermont and Figueroa as well. If using a ride-share service (Uber, Lyft, etc.), please navigate to the McCarthy entrance, as it is the designated pick up/drop off location for ride-share.

Food

The food court in TCC is closed on the weekends but there are several food options within walking distance to the north, west and, southeast and several more a short drive away. These are boxed in green in the map below. You will have to check back in at one of the pedestrian gates.

ALL COMPETITORS MUST READ THIS TAB BEFORE REGISTERING.

For this competition, all competitors are required to assist in running the competition due to the smaller scale. Failure to make oneself available to do so may result in disqualification.

Before the competition, you will receive a card/nametag with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event in an email.

This competition will be sponsored by SpeedCubeShop! They will be providing gift-card prizes for this competition. They will not be selling puzzles on-site.
