The WCA Financial Committee (WFC) is looking for two or three new members to add to its team. The applications are open to everyone; it’s not a requirement to hold a current position in the WCA to be considered.
What does the WFC do?
- Determine the annual budget for the WCA including analysis and projections of competitor counts.
- Manage the dues system including invoicing and credit control.
- Complete tax and other regulatory compliance forms on behalf of the WCA.
- Manage the finances and cash flow of the WCA.
- Review applications for funding in accordance with the Equipment Funding and Travel Reimbursement policies.
- Other financial tasks requested by the WCA Board or in accordance with our Motions.
The official rights and duties of the WFC are documented in WCA Motion 10.2017.3.

Olivér Perge’s term as a member of the Board of Directors of the WCA has come to an end on July 1st. We want to thank Olivér for the amazing things he has done, the milestones he achieved and the steps he paved for the future of the WCA. We wish him all the best in his future activities!

The WCA Regulations Committee (WRC) is looking for about 5 new members. Interested community members of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The applications are open to everyone; it’s not a requirement to hold a current position in the WCA to be considered.
What does the WRC do?
The priority application period is open for candidates to submit their candidacy document from now until July 21st, 2019, 23:59 UTC privately to Lucas Garron (firstname.lastname@example.org). All applications received during the priority application period will receive equal consideration, with a decision by August 5.
Additional applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until September 30, 2019 (23:59 UTC).
There will be an appointment of a new WCA Ethics Committee Leader, as Walker Welch recently stepped down as the Leader of the WCA Ethics Committee. We would like to thank Walker the work he has done leading the Committee. In the interim period, the WCA Board will lead the Committee.

As a result of our recent application period, a new Senior Delegate has been appointed. For the Latin America region, the Board received the applications of Natán Riggenbach and José Garrido. After deliberation, they decided to appoint Natán Riggenbach for the position.
The appointment is effective immediately. You may find both applications here.

The WCA Board is creating a position to carry out the administrative tasks of the Board of Directors. To make the Board position more appealing to qualified Staff members, less time consuming, and sustainable in the long-term, they will appoint 2-3 Executive Assistants who will be responsible for assisting the Board members with day-to-day functions.
Some sample tasks include:
- Managing the WCA Board’s Trello board
- Maintaining Policies, Bylaws, and Motions on Github
- Administration of users on G-Suite
- Administration of WCA Board’s Team Drives
- Drafting emails on behalf of the Board
- Compiling and reviewing information from form responses
Dear WCA Community,
We are informing you that the WCA and Red Bull Mind Gamers have reached a deal in which the WCA will be collaborating with the Red Bull Rubik’s Cube World Cup 2019 series. Within this collaboration the WCA will offer its advisory assistance and will also have 3-5 joint competitions, in which the Red Bull competitions will be held before or after an official WCA competition, but on different days.
In light of this recent news, we are looking for communities that would welcome Red Bull competitions and would like to host these joint events. If you are interested, please reach out to your closest Delegate, your region’s Senior Delegate, or your region’s Regional Organization (if applicable). The basic criteria for such events are:
- Experience in hosting Speedcubing Events
- Experienced, English speaking organizers
- Substantial amount of speedcubers in the area
- Availability to organize between May and September of 2019
- Red Bull availability in the country
If you fit these requirements, please contact your local Delegate to submit an application by April 15, 2019 with the following information:
- Hosting country and city
- Possible date of the WCA competition
- Number of expected competitors
Red Bull Mind Gamers will choose 3-5 collaboration events out of the submitted applications in coordination with the local Red Bull Country under the advisory of the WCA.
The WCA Communication Team (WCT) is seeking members to help with managing and creating WCA social media posts or graphic design for social media posts and other projects!
The application is open to all WCA members. You do not have to hold a current position to be considered.
What does the WCT do?
- Answers daily inquires to the WCA through emails, the contact page on the WCA website, and social media direct messages
- Manages official WCA social media platforms through frequent & engaging posts
- Works with other WCA leaders to improve the WCA website and communications to the community

Here you can find some noteworthy updates about the activity of the Disciplinary Committee over the month of February 2019.
In the second month of 2019, the WDC has actively worked on 8 investigations: 4 were opened in December 2018, 2 in January and 2 in February 2019. 7 of these cases were closed. The WDC has now closed all the cases that were opened in 2018.
The WCA Marketing Team is asking for membership applications with the primary task of handling the distribution of WCA Competition Gear. The responsibilities of these team members will be to receive equipment orders, re-pack the equipment for international shipping, and make routine trips to the post office.
Applicants must be based within the United States for this unique position. Otherwise, the applications are open to everyone; it is not a requirement to hold a current position within the WCA to be considered.
We are happy to announce that we have a new Committee Leader. Ronald Mansveld has been appointed as the Leader of the WCA Data Protection Committee (WDPC).
Ronald was selected by the WCA Board and approved in a voting among the current Committee/Team Leaders and Senior Delegates, following Section 4 of our Motion 10.2019.0 about WCA Committees and Teams.

The WRC invites the WCA Community to discuss and send feedback on a new draft version of the WCA Regulations for early 2019. This version is not final, and we welcome suggestions on any aspect of the set of changes.
If there are no major issues, we plan to send a final draft to the WCA Board for approval at the beginning of March. (See Motion 14.2019.1 for details about the process.)

There will be an appointment of a new WCA Team Leader for the WCA Marketing Team (WMT), which has been led by the WCA Board since its creation. The WMT is an Advisory Committee of the WCA responsible for developing and managing the WCA Brand, seeking sponsorships, supporting the distribution of WCA Competition Gear, and marketing WCA Merchandise.
Our newly formed WCA Advisory Council (WAC) is looking for members to help with their mission!
What is the WAC and what do they do?
The biggest task of the WAC is to be an intermediary between the community and the WCA Staff - to give the community a voice when important topics are being discussed. The Community Representatives will be a vital part of that process. More information about the main functions of the WAC can be found here: WCA Motion 20.2019.01
The council will have 2 sub-teams - Community Representatives and WCA Representatives. This announcement is for Community Representatives, who will make up the majority of the council and will not be members of WCA Staff, meaning that anyone except WCA Staff can apply. If you have never held a formal position in the WCA before, this an exciting opportunity to contribute towards making the WCA even better!

Starting from January 2019, the WDC will issue a public overview of its activities every month, in order to give a better perception of the work of the Committee to the Community.
We realize that our work is mostly behind the scenes and that it’s based on confidentiality, which is something that can easily lead to the spreading of false rumors and confusion. The WDC would like to establish a routine in its communication towards the WCA Community, to avoid misunderstanding and disinformation and to provide some insight about its activities.

The successful passing of the WCA Data Protection Policy v1.1 established the WCA Data Protection Committee (WDPC) that is in need of a leader. The WCA Data Protection Committee is an Advisory Committee of the WCA which is responsible for all matters relating to Data Protection including, but not limited to the EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and other Data Protection and Privacy regulations worldwide.
The applications are open to everyone; it’s not a requirement to hold a current position in the WCA to be considered. Candidates are expected to fulfill their terms (24 months) and to spend at least 7 hours per week on average to work for the Committee. The qualities expected of candidates are:
- Strong leadership skills
- Good knowledge of Data Protection and GDPR
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
