If you want to have advanced live online timing for your competition, then consider Live Results by Jim Mertens.
It is based on an Excel file, that can be uploaded to a web server.

Another option is to use a non Excel based solution created by Rafal Studniecki from Poland.

It is based on VertigoServ (Apache, PHP and MySQL) and can be used on a local server and synchronised to an internet server.
